adopted parent becomes a relative?
Dagwood, You have hit the nail on the head! The fundamental questions are whether you are researching only your blood relatives/ancestors or all relatives and, if you are researching all relatives then, does this include only relatives by marriage? I have one quite distant relative by adoption (alth...

adopted parent becomes a relative?
Just a thought but surely if I adopt a child I become a relative of future generations in the same way that a spouse becomes a relative (aunt/uncle/cousin as well as parent) through marriage? To my way of thinking you can become a relative through a legal process (such as a father-in-law, for exampl...

Residence Fact Deduced From Birth Certificate
Unless you have evidence from a different source then you cannot be sure that other members of the family were present and living in the house at the same time as the birth. Indeed, I know from my own researches that one or sometimes more young children were often sent to live with relatives or even...

If you save the diagram as an image file (for example .jpg or .png) then it is easy to rotate it in something like Irfanview or Picasa. The image can then be inserted into the page you select.

Whilst waiting for V5 to arrive by post I have been browsing through the available plugins. Wow! you folk have been hard at work. A Grave problem
In the UK there is rarely just one person buried in the grave - many are made for three. A family might buy a plot for three family members (or a double plot for six, etc) but a person might be buried in a public plot where two other unrelated people may be buried. I have both situations. One except...

I don't think changing the Fact sentence globally will change any facts that have already been created. Have you tried creating a new marriage record in AS to see if the correct sentence is created?

Where did you alter the sentence? If you altered it in the local record then it will only be changed in that record. To change it globally go to: Tools>Work with Fact Sets... Make sure you have selected in the Fact Set selector; find the Fact you want to change and click the Properties button. You c...

Why does FH run at variable speeds?
Don't forget that Windows, Norton/Macafee and other programs may sometimes download updates etc in the background without giving any obvious indication of what is going on. Follow Jane's suggestion of using Task Manager to check what programs are running in the background.
