Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
Morning Gerry I can now change the file paths using the button and with cut & paste but I still get an error when I try to backup. So can you confirm that with these paths set that you can create entries and that AS automatically creates log entries and also backups your gedcom file after saving an...

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
I think the Gedcom file error is actually another copy of the create error. Would you mind doing that again? So if you use the button you don't get an error - so if you set the 3 folders using the button does it then let you backup your settings? Edit:Actually I can reproduce the error message you'...

This are screen dumps of the Wine Configuration Drives and Desktop Integration screens. Don't know if they might help track down where the problem lies.

Hi Nick,
No, when I change the file path as instructed then tab out I get the message that the folder can't be found. If I click on Create I just get the same error message.

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
Mike, Yes, you can see from the screen dump below that the Options file is in the Backup folder and the image also shows the file path. There are, in fact, two alternative paths - see second screen dump. The third screen dump is the FH project path. No, I get the same error message whether the optio...

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
Mike and Nick, The AS Options Backup.xml file was created in Win 8. I have copied it to the Crossover version of C: but AS still can't "see" it. When I try to change the backup path AS asks if I want to create the backup folder but when I change it back to the default (see below) it finds the folder...

Mike,
I uninstalled AS and then reinstalled but am still getting an error message (see file attached). The operating system wouldn't allow me to delete .Net Framework 2 or 3.

Thanks, Valkrider. I have now installed Net Framework 3 and AS seems to be working, although I cannot Restore the previous settings. When I can find the time I will do some more work on that one.

Re: FH-v5 AS-v4 WinXP Crossover & Wine Bottles
I have downloaded the trial version of Crossover 13.1.2 and installed both FH 5.0.9 and AS 4.0.1 in the same bottle. FH is working but, as I think has been reported elsewhere, reports display without text although they still save OK. This is a bit disconcerting but I could probably live with it. Are...

Re: Font Issues
Apologies for the problem you're having. I suspect you have a higher than normal Windows DPI (dots per inch) setting. I admit I've not done any testing of higher DPI settings and I guess the beta testers didn't either. If you check the setting I think you may have it set at 125% - please see if the...

Font Issues
I'm not sure if this is a problem with AS 4.0 or with my particular setup (Win 8.1 running under Parallels on an iMac) but the labels are overlapping the text input areas. I have tried several fonts but always get the same problem. As you can see, this is how it looks with Arial 8pt.

I deleted both plugins and reinstalled them and your changes seems to have resolved the issue.

Script Header: @Title differs from Filename
I am getting the following error message but the Plugin still loads and runs when I click OK. I have searched the Forum but can't see that this has been reported before. As far as I can see the @Ttitle is the same as the Filename unless the leading and trailing spaces are counted. I have also attach...

Re: Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings
Yes Gerry, I am aware of that problem, and there is a fix in the pipeline. It happens because the installed FH Version is earlier than V5.0.8 and I've put the Plugin check for that in the wrong place! I suspect you have only installed your purchased licensed V5 copy and not the latest free upgrade ...

Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings
Having successfully loaded Family Historian in Windows 8.0 (still waiting for 8.1 to download!) I downloaded and installed the Backup and Restore Plugin to recover my original settings, which I save when I was running FH in Win XP. Unfortunately the plugin returns the following message and then stop...

Gerry, I have retrieved the originally posted back-slashes from the archives. They got lost when the Forums moved last year. Thanks Mike. Jane, thanks for replying, but I did some more googling and some more mucking about in settings and discovered the following. Re: FH running on Wine
I'm running FH 5.09 under Parallels 8 on a Macbook Air and Mavericks 10.9.2. I have a similar problem that none of the plugins that I have tried run and give the error "No changes have been made to data records" as described in Valkrider's 11th Feb post in this thread. The plugins install without e...

If you can get both of them to work this would still be an option for me.Valkrider wrote:Mike
Once AS4 is available I am going to give it a go at getting the MAC to run both AS and FH under Win 7 in a bottle and will update you as to how that goes.
