Thank you John but I'm no nearer to solving the problem. I shall keep my eye on the web for any references to this error message but for now I shall have to continue to get over it.

I recently purchased Version 3 of Family Historian. I run Vista Home Premium and whenever I try to launch FH I get the message 'Error in installation, please re install' but re Installing just results in the same message. I've found a work around by right clicking and selecting 'Run as Administrator...

Thanks very much.I must have overwritten the file somehow.
I should have said I'm using Vista Home Premium but I forgot to put it in. I was able to restore the file from my Windows Live One Care backup which I keep up to date on a weekly basis.
That's one up to Vista!

After making some changes to my tree I tried to open it and got the message 'Unrecognised File Format' If you are trying to insert a picture, video, document or other etc etc. I'm sure the file name is the same as it's always been.
