You can view an FH produced CD-DVD file on your iPad.
Just copy the whole FH CD-DVD folder which will include a data folder, autorun, fh icon, load & start files into a file management app such as Documents by Readdle using itunes, dropbox or similar.
Navigate to the start file & it will load.

Re: Merging projects & keeping named list record notes
If I had read back over the charts issue I would have been reminded of the crucial point about the record ID's.
If I follow through with this I will probably attempt using a text editor after ensuring I have uniquely named lists.
Thanks for your guidance.

Merging projects & keeping named list record notes
Mike thankyou for your work on the Export Gedcom Plugin. I think it will help me a great deal but would like some input. I have maintained seven different FH project files due to one of them requiring extra privacy which in the early days was not fully honoured by split tree helper. I have merged th...

The new forums do tend to look better on tablets (so I am happy!).
However, I miss having 'unread posts' link on all pages.

Re: FH CD-DVD viewing on ipad
..... I have come across a small glitch, but not critical. Some addresses (not all) recorded against facts are being coloured as if they are clickable links. This colouring also extends into the next field. eg Williams Rd against a birth is OK but 33 Centre Rd for Electoral Roll has been given 'link...

FH CD-DVD viewing on ipad
I have successfully displayed an FH5 created CD-DVD on my ipad mini retina. This is essentially displaying a website locally without web or cloud access. Presumably there are other solutions, but I came across FileApp for IOS used in conjunction with DiskAid for windows PC or MAC. My initial test wa...

Re: iPad Apps comparisons?
As with all software I tend to like each for different reasons. I compared Gedfamilies & Gedview for my use in Mar 2013 so things may have changed. I more recently looked at Heredis but not in as much detail. I was not looking at the editing aspects at all, only viewing. If you just want to see basi...

If you are talking about diagrams, perhaps the family connection mapper would be of use.

adopted parent becomes a relative?
You can set the relationship to parent from the focus window. Right click on the child to choose relationship to parent -adopted, birth, de facto, foster, illegitimate, lds sealing, step. When doing diagrams etc you will need to choose which parents eg birth or adopted, but you may combine them to m...

Go to the tools menu - make a family tree CD.
Refer to CD wizard steps 1-8 in the Family Historian Help index.
Your gedcom file will need to be part of a project to follow this procedure.

You need to select both yourself & your wife, then choose all relatives diagram. One way is to choose yourselves together on the families tab then choose all relatives diagram. Or select yourself on a diagram, press control & select your wife , then all relatives diagram.

No you can add the first wife now. Then open the property box for your grandad. On the main tab next to Spouse will be the tab for each wife. Across to the right is an arrow for changing the order of them.

You could also simply use the standard age at death query & click on the age column to sort by age. Copy & paste the young ones into excel.

More problems with printing and PDFs
I use xp & recently had this issue with left to right charts which I assumed was a bug. If you have another option, use it. I added the lines manually but found you had to offset them from the expected position to get the desired result. It was rather frustrating!

Upgraded to v4 - Have I Been Done?
Blue up button.
As I've just discovered, if you use this & there is no parents, a box pops up asking if you wish to add one. If there is only one parent you add the spouse as usual. I did not persue this as, like Phil, I assumed this was the purpose of the focus window.

No double marriage lines in inserted tree
I think there is no marriage lines because you have inserted an ancestor tree which is styled differently.
Experiment with a relatives tree hiding those you don't want.
