Well, I have bitten the bullet and purchased the software. Installed and downloaded my GED file with no hassles at all. Easy to browse around, all the information is there at your finger tips, including sources. Will be interesting to see how things go when I use it when really need something like t...

For everyone's reference, there are two applications currently available for iPod touch (and I suppose iPhone) that deal with GED files (that appear in iTunes Store for me anyway). They are called Shrubs ($5.99) and FamViewer ($17.99). Latter appears to be superior and I will probably purchase it an...

Yes, as just mentioned, don't use Word to edit HTML coding, it is terrible at it. Can't recommend to you what to use, as I do all the hard coding using a text editor myself.

Thing that I would find good about it is with notes about the location and photographs. So lets say you have the family farm, stories about things that happened there are notes and photos of the buildings. If there was a location, then if that was linked to the people that lived there, then the stor...

Thanks Jon, that certainly does it.
Is there a particular reason why objects don't have a source? Is it something in the .ged specs that they don't?

Just a passing comment, since I have started using FH, ever single week I want more and more to have locations as their own items / records like individuals, families etc. Oh it would make life so, so much easier.

Adrian, I was aware of doing that and have an image associated with most of the sources (only have 50 but over 4,000 citations) that I have so far. However, if you go to that image, then there is no mention within the record for that object of what it's source is, where it came from. Reason this has...

Tree of link between two people
I remember reading and voting on one feature request for putting / entering two people's names in the file and getting the output for the link between the two. Sorry, but I don't have time to search through the database to find it at the moment and see if this was included / mentioned in it, but was...

How about support of the vCard format (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VCard) for a person's contact details?
May be not directly use of it, but ability to import it into the gen file format?

Thanks for the reply John.
I was aware of the legislation pages from the Victorian Government. I was looking for a page somewhere that some genealogist has connected the dots and worked out what it means already. Very surprised that it doesn't exist.

Are there any Victorian genealogists on here?
I am trying to find out exactly what I am allow to 'publish' / make available to others in which particular situations.
Information that actually sets it out is very thin on the ground.

Further to this, see that you can have multimedia associated with events for an individual. Is there no way to output those to a report? I can think of a lot of situations where this would be good, such as wedding photos both of people and the church, christening photos etc.
