Cannot load proj
Thank you for your help. I double click a xxx.fh_proj file and it opens FH with the data as expected. I therefore assume that the fh_proj is not simply a shortcut to the Gedcom file which is in the project folder of the same name as the proj file. However as you say it is not listed under Project Wi...

Cannot load proj
FH 4.1.3 - Ancestral Sources v 2
I can load the gedcom from my project and I can load the sample project as a project but am unable to open the proj file for my own project.
The proj file does load into FH as expected.
What have I not done please?

Having trouble with many Notes
I thank the 'usual suspects' for their insight and guidance. I am grateful and the opinions need careful thought before filling in and then having to change. I think a sprinkling from each opinion and following up the references will sort the wood from the trees. I have enough to set my strategy, th...

Having trouble with many Notes
I am having a little trouble with which note is which in various displays. In the individual tab there is a note against Marriage. When looking at the yellow Source tab alongside it there is a larger note box at the bottom. Writing in one does not appear in the other so they are different. Can someb...

OK, Version 4 pro which includes viewer. I produced the PDF using FH which then opened the XChange Viewer as the default viewer. I have not tried producing the PFD from XChange because I assumed that the FH driver would be the most suitable for its own program.

Node colours while printing?
Thank you all very much. Cured.
The clue was in the question what viewer?
I was using PDF-XChange.
I installed Adobe and it worked perfectly.
There is a moral here somewhere; don't buy software when there is a free alternative.
Thanks

Node colours while printing?
Thank you for your comments. I am using Print and then selecting to print via the FH PDF printer and it is producing a pdf version of the report. When I view the pdf a node dots are blue whereas on screen before printing they are both red and blue. No printer is involved. As I see it if it can produ...

I do not have the program available on this computer but I do know that the nodes showed both blue & red on the screen therefore I would expect them to print as such.

I have checked node colours as 1-blue 2-red while printing to PDF of Individual Record Details. I note that all nodes come out blue.

Sources Tab Scrollbars
The picture you posted tatewise is exactly what I was describing in my last post except that it was in the left hand pane and disappeared while trying to capture.
There is definitely a problem.
[Edit] Fujitsi Siemens Amilo Laptop all drivers up to date.

Sources Tab Scrollbars
Further to the scrollbars in the Sources window it also does not refresh properly. I had on screen a moment ago a misplaced section part way down, which had shifted left presumably when I moved it. Covering the window and then uncovering did not refresh it, nor did clicking within the window or clic...

Sources Tab Scrollbars
Thank you Jane, but I rarely use any window maximised. Thanks tatewise I think that you put the problem more descriptively than I did. Once I found the scrollbar I didn't retest but it seems that the problem is still present but to see it one must go through the sequence again to get rid of it, befo...

Entering source for marriage
Help from a previous post has solved entering sources and citations with one exception. With a marriage I have two sources from BMD one for each of the partners marrying the other. I can find no wiki help. I actually added the source as before. Then I added the link to the marriage 'fact' not 'event...

Thank you davidm_uk. From the two replies and following the tutorials I think I have concluded that my approach was wrong and probably typical. To get the people on the tree and then provide the data and hope I got the right people etc. etc. These replies have suggested that the sources are the bett...

Entering sources/citations
Having difficulty with sources and source citations. I believe a source to be the document and the citation to be the index or reference to find it. i.e. Birth certificate (paper) and the BMD vol and page number that led to it. If this is correct, how do people (usually) enter this information? The ...

I set up the record window to show several flag columns and saved. I then transferred the project and all folders under it and I have lost the columns. Thanks, do you ever sleep?
It now seems obvious reading your answer, but there is always the nagging doubt that something else will happen, like leave links laying around unattached or something.
This program has subtleties and beauties not found in other programs.

Remove all Multimedia and Source links
Rushing ahead without studying the book carefully first, I have got links to multimedia that are sources and some sources that I wish to discard and so break their links to anything. There are only about 20. I can then start that process again and link them how now feel is correct. Can I break all s...
