I can see how this suggestion would work for individuals but not for families.
The FH tree has a mix of ind(record ID) and fam(family ID).html files

Re: improve website plug in
And so did I! On the previous install I missed ticking the box for the search filter so just had the married women. Facebook must treat pages with any new people as new pages but leaves the first page as being the one in memory

Re: improve website plug in
Thanks Mike - I didn't get a reply to my email to you - I guess that must be in Spam. Browser is Firefox I was about to send a screenshot showing the problem when it occurred to me to refresh the page ... and low and behold it now works. Pretty obvious really and I should have known better. Thanks f...

improve website plug in
I am using FH 7.0.11 with plugin version 3.2 on windows 10 When updating my website WWW.davidkeetch.com I use FH to create a folder with the necessary files on my computer then run the plug in on it so as to include married women in italics and a search filter. Then I add a couple of lines of code t...

Re: Web site wizard UTF-8 error
Well I tried eliminating items one at a time and the problem seems to happen when I include an outline ancestor report. Once that has been included the effect continues even if it is later deselected and one needs to clear the target file using Windows Explorer. I have Avast on my back up computer s...

Re: Web site wizard UTF-8 error
I tried removing all items from the home page except for "index" and it then works and it seems to produce all the pages as expected. I will try removing things one at a time and see if I can locate the problem

Re: Web site wizard UTF-8 error
Have done some more research - All the families are present and have their web pages shown as expected. However all the individuals (though all are present) have the menu bar missing.
I use Microsoft Security Essentials as my anti-virus and not sure how to turn that off.

Re: Web site wizard UTF-8 error
Thanks for that. I tried using Windows Explore to delete all the files in the target folder before trying again but still have the same result. I am using Windows7 Home Edition. It seems to stop halfway in the process that follows creation of the web pages. I am not aware of any missing pages but th...

Web site wizard UTF-8 error
Capture.JPG Thought I would update my website using ver6. The wizard creates all the pages but comes to a halt during the next process with the error shown in the attachment. I have checked what has been saved and all seems correct apart from the home page which seems to have had most of the format...

Re: Map Window - TimeSlider
Just to confirm the same is true with Windows Home Premium. If I switch to the hideous Aero scheme the pointers and dates appear.

Re: focus window/ record window
Thanks for that reminder - I realised things looked a bit different but didn't spot that the navigation bar was missing.
It still seems strange to have two buttons - "Home" and "Focus" - which do the same thing.

focus window/ record window
In my copy of version 6: when I click on the " home " button I always get the Focus Window - although I have ticked " Display the Records Window, instead of the Focus Window, at startup " in preferences. I would have expected the view to change to the Records Window when pressing the " home " button...

I have windows 7 - I attach a shot of the screen showing missing pointer and dates. Changing size of window has no affect.

Gedcom Census and Family Historian 4
I had similar problems but found it hard to change the default gedcom that GC points to.
Have now solved that by changing the name of the original gedcom file so that GC couldn't find it - only then did it ask if the new version should be the default.

MACRO
Hi Jane I looked at the possibilities of editing the text file. In the first example I gave it seems to require a change from (ABT. yyyy) to ABT yyyy where yyyy is different for each record. A simple 'find and replace' function wouldn't be able to deal with that. I don't have a text editor with a ...

Is it possible for there to be a MACRO facility so that the key stokes necessary to produce a change on a particular record can be stored and re-used on other selected records (perhaps all those within a list)? For example: I have imported records which show approximate dates in two different ways, ...
