Re: How to put DNA results into family historian
Barb: I have to confess that I was unaware of the DNA Marker fact mentioned by Mike but I imagine it was intended for storing results obtained by DNA tests which use a relatively small number of markers, such as Y-chromosome DNA tests. The DNA tests currently marketed by ancestry.com are autosomal t...

Thanks. All is working normally today. I can only think that I had too many programs running at once last evening.

Printing a fan chart to pdf
I am finding myself unable to save a fan chart as a pdf file, whether using the save as ...command or the print to pdf command. Printing other types of diagrams or reports is working fine but when I try the same procedure on a fan chart, the screen refreshes but I do not get the normal screen giving...

I also have a UK FMP subscription but am finding that the accept and reject buttons are present when review is pressed and work as intended.
Be interesting to see what others are finding.

Re: Pedigree collapse (implex) in diagrams
Hello, I could not find this topic neither in the book "Getting The Most From Family Historian 5" nor here at FHUG. There is a useful discussion in the "Getting the Most...." book in Chapter 9 Setting the Style, Layout & Content of Diagrams (see pages 93-95 Duplicates ). See also this thread in FHU...

Re: DIAGRAMS (ALL RELATIVES)
Beth: Assuming you are on v5 as indicated in your profile, for an overview of FH's printing and scaling techniques I recommend working through chapter 11 of the "Getting the most from FH 5" book, accessible from the v5 Help Menu. You may also find chapter 10 useful which explains how to move boxes a...

If you look at "Understanding Functions" in the Help files you will see an explanation of FH functions and links to other relevant pages, including a full list of FH functions. There are also individual pages for each function giving examples of srequired syntax.

Re: Place and Address - Appearance in Reports etc.
Having a consistent Address and Place columns regime is essential ........ to be able to answer Queries such as how many Facts mention the country India or the county Kent . Whilst there are undoubtedly tasks where a consistent column regime is essential, I think it is perhaps oversimplifying to sa...

Re: Saving a Family Historian Chart
I have a number of charts produced in FH version 3 including some with pictures in the individual boxes and some with background pictures. I have never experienced any incompatibility issue in opening such charts in v4 or v5 so far as I recall and they still open without problem in v6. So it doesn't...

Re: version 6 Facts box settings
There is a new standard query Individual Timeline for reporting. I don't think there is any suggestion anywhere in the Help documentation to suggest that timelines are intended to appear in standard Reports.

Re: Inoperative Installation Settings Button in certain repo
Thanks Mike. Solved! I have progressively updated over the years from v3 and had wrongly assumed that FH upgrades over-wrote the entire standard reports folder. In light of your explanation, it seems that existing standard reports are overwritten by newer versions if of same name but that a report n...

Inoperative Installation Settings Button in certain reports
The Installation Settings button does not appear to work on any tab of the Family Group Sheet (for Web or CD) or Individual Summary Report (for Web or CD) standard reports.
They appear to work normally on the non-web/CD versions of these reports.

Re: Map Window
For example: Born in Sutton, Surrey the map view has the position pointer in Effingham, some 12 miles away. Sutton seems to be an odd one. As Nick Walker has said, the geocoding service which FH is using tends to place unrecognised UK place names in the approximate centre of the county if one is gi...

Helen: I see you think you bought the full version of v5. Can't help with the filename for the download for that but if it was the upgrade version and if you stored it on your hard drive then the filename you need to search for begins upgrade_fh_v4_to_v5 If you bought either full or upgrade version ...

Same here. Working fine during beta testing but not working now, neither on desktop (Windows 7 64 bit, v6 installed over v5 and 6beta) nor on laptop (Vista, 6beta was not previously installed on this so v6 simply installed over v5). I noticed on installation that during install there was an option t...

I have a fairly full folder of pictures (~100) and have copied in a number (~30) of new ones. Mike Thanks for your comments. To clarify, the problem was first spotted in an assortment of about 10 gedcoms which were sent to my brother over the course of a few days, all of which encountered the trailer error when he opened them. These were all between 20 and 30 individuals. To try and narrow d...
