Wheel Mouse

I have just come accross a utility called Free Wheel at  http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/ ... wheel.html which will allow the wheel mouse to work in places that it does not ie. in diagrams & reports.

It is free so if you want it - go get it

How To Animations

This is an excellent way to help new users, or those with difficulties in using some of the features in FH. If I could make a couple of suggestions: 1. Have a guide as to how many steps there are ie Step 5 of 17 so that you know how long it is going to take. Personally I like to know what I am letti...

Opinions Please

I would appreciate any opinions regarding one of ny ancesters. The problem that I have is that in 1852 on his marriage certificate his occupation was 'Bricklayer' but by 1859 on his daughter's Birth Certificate his occupation was 'Registrar of Births, Deaths & Marriages' There could be several reaso...

Recording where something was NOT found

Could you not use a source?

You could have a source for each individual that you have researched called, say, 'Bloggs, Joe - Research' and then link that to their name.

Backing up Data

There has been some discussion recently in the FH User Group about backing up data.

It would seem to me that the backup option should backup any and all user files - GEDCOM, mulimedia, custom queries & reports etc.

Could this go on the wish list please? (if it is not already there)

Bug in 2.2.1

This has already been posted on the FAMILY-HISTORIAN-USERS mailing list and Simon has identified as a bug and it will be fixed in the next patch.

This can happen in a number of areas - they are all the same bug.

Gay Relationships (how to add them to FH)

Although not directly related to this subject there will, in the future, be another complication when the ability to trace a 'donor' parent comes into existence sometime in the future. I suspect that the problem is down to the GEDCOM standard and as this is US based then getting these changes incorp...

Reports

I belive that to change the order would be a program change

Looking at it though would it be possible, if it is not already there, to put on the wish list the ability to reorder marriage, and individual, attributes in the same way that you can reorder the main body of the report?

Pictures

This is just a general question to get other views on the subject. When you want to display a picture of a member of your family, and you have several taken at different stages in their lives, which one is the best to use? Do you use the best quality one, the last one that was taken, the one you rem...

Mouse wheel support in Reports

There is obviously a problem with using the mouse wheel for scolling in reports. It does not work for me, even though it works in other areas. Surely if it works in one area it should work in all areas and it would therefore be reasonable to assume that it is nothing to do with the installation of t...

URL's from within

I think that the ability to have active web links is a feature that will become more important as time goes on and therefore should be included, perhaps as an attribute. It would also be an idea to include, at some stage, a means of being able to verify web links - ie a tools option which would chec...

A Couple of Questions

Having been looking at some of the new feature in 2.2 there are a couple of things (so far) that seem a bit strange. The first is that although the is a list of place name there is no list of addresses. The second one is that with the new date option of qrt the quarters are 1,2,3,4 rather than Mar, ...

I installed it onto an XP system without any problems.

Perhaps an idea would be to uninstall/reinstall your current version and then try the upgrade.

OK - I really should read the notes before putting pen to paper (figurativly speaking that is!) Yes the mouse wheel does work in most places when you set focus (not standard - but I will get used to it. It does not work in the diagram window but there is an alternative which is probably better anywa...

2.2 Release - comments please

At first glance this looks to be an excellent upgrade. There are so may changes that it will take weeks to look at them all. The first one I found was the merging place names - brilliant for tidying up misspelt names. I will keep looking at others and come back. On a slightly downside - no support f...

Font in Diagrams

Is there a way to change the font for one item within a diagram? I would like to have the name in a different font to the rest of the information.

Perhaps this is, or should be, on the Wish List.
