gedcom files and ipad

I thing al you have to do is create an account I.e username and password but you don't have to take up a subscription. I certainly don't pay anything to ancestry and it works for me. After uploading my two gedcom files ( there doesn't appear to be any limit) the hints started to appear about a few d...

gedcom files and ipad

I have used Gedview but I now also use the ancestry app. You don't have to subscribe to ancestry.com to use it. I uploaded the gedcom file produced by family historian to the ancestry website and then looked at it using the app. You can also upload more than one tree as well. I've got over 1000 peop...

Cousins Marrying

This situation is quite common and the reason is very straight forward. Before the advent of the train many families lived in the same village for many generations. The number of potential partners was very limited so marriages between 2nd, 3rd and 4h cousins etc very common. In very small rural com...

Can a CD 'website' be viewed on an iPad?

If you are looking to use an iPad you could upload your tree to ancestry and then use the ancestry app to view it on the iPad. Won't cost an arm and a leg either so worth trying.

Numbering records produced by a query

How far does it go, well if I tell you I have around 19000 people on the tree, of which 12000 are actually descendents ,the rest are spouses. If you then take away the dead, the Illigitimate and their descendents and the adopted. You get down to 6000. Then the fun begins. Catholics are not allowed t...

Numbering records produced by a query

I do use exactly as you describe to achieve the result but it would have been nice if Family historian could have done that automaticaly

Is it worth putting on the wish list or do you think thats its to difficult to achieve or no demand or whatever other reason not to put it on?

Numbering records produced by a query

As you may be aware I use FH version 3 to help me compile the list of those in line to the British throne. I run a query on the tree and I can produce a list of those in line to the throne but I now want to be able to add a column which nunbers those in line automatically. So Charles would be number...

Query Issue

I have been using Version 3 to construct a tree showing all the descendents of the Electress Sophia. I have used several Flags and Icons to help in the production of a list of those in the line of succesion and it works extremely well. I've used Flags to denote people who married catholics, are cath...

Recording twins

I've been using a flag and named it twin and then attaching an icon to that flag. It's simple and works for me.

However of course I may have missed some twins so having an expression that finds those that I have missed would be great.

When I upgrade to version 5 I will give those above a try.

Query for deaths as a result of Childbirth

Query for deaths as a result of Childbirth

County Boundries

I guess the answer may depend on whether you want to use the data for anything other than your own needs. The subject of counties can be very confusing. Prior to the 1880s counties were distinct geographical areas but the introduction of County councils confused the issue slightly as the boundaries ...

I have been very impressed with Family Historian version 3 since I bought it over 7 years ago. Some of you will know that I have used it not only to record my own family history but also to construct a tree of all the descedants of the Electress Sophia. By also recording those that are illegitimate,...

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction Downloaded the query and saved it to a new directory where I keep my FH files.
