Installing v7.0.1.3 did not require a reboot, so that's an improvement, I suppose.
Same here, but I think that was fixed in v7.012

I do hope that they actually go on to do a review, I will be interested to see how the reporting comes out in any review.

Re: FH7 report paragraph fix - new version v7.0.1.1

I too received the email from CP and the link to 7.0.1.1. In view of the previous comments about installation problems I think I'll wait a while for further feedback before trying to install. In my case the email told me that two of the bugs I have reported have been fixed: 18321|Diagram text schem...

Re: FH7 report paragraph fix - new version v7.0.1.1

I also received an email saying that the issue I reported had been fixed. I downloaded the update and ran it on my main and my laptop, in both cases, I was forced into a reboot without warning, luckily, the blue screen was brought up, and I had the option to force close and reboot anyway , or return...

Re: No searchable text in PDF reports

As a matter of interest, which pdf program do you use? and how accurate is it running OCR on the image? NitroPDF. Seems pretty accurate. But no individual would buy it now -- they've gone the way of so many good programme -- towards the commercial marketplace. Thanks, I have the adobe suite so have...

Re: No searchable text in PDF reports

PDF generation creates a PDF faultlessly (albeit as an image) because I suspect of the 64Gb of memory I have; and then my PDF program converts the image to text etc. So no help to CP as the memory issue is obvious once you twig that FH is producing images. And I don't use the facility at all -- I d...

Re: How do you record Unknown people?

I have decided to use the following methods after much thought. For Illegitimate children for whom I do not know the father, I will enter "Unknown MALE" with MALE as the surname and Unknown as the first name. That has not changed from the way I have always done it. For a family where I cannot find a...

Re: No searchable text in PDF reports

Until the reports are fixed, I have no intention of getting rid of V6.27 the reporting is far superior, its just the hassle of swapping between the two, but the plugin route works just fine for me.

Re: Help wanted exporting to FTM 2019

That is all helpful and I intend to remove Sort Dates for the FTM 2019 exported GEDCOM. The GEDCOM Assessment of FTM, Date: 2020-02-05, was performed with assess.ged v1.02 whereas you have used v1.05 and there are 50+ Pending tests, so a little surprised you say you agree with the findings apart fr...

Re: Help wanted exporting to FTM 2019

I need help checking some features of FTM 2019 when using my Export Gedcom File plugin Version 4.1 . I do not wish to purchase FTM 2019 so cannot test the features myself. Currently, the plugin exports a Sort Date (2 _SDATE) for every fact in (FTM) Family Tree Maker 2019 mode. There is some evidenc...

Re: Help wanted exporting to FTM 2019

Hi Mike, I have tried everything I know, and as far as I am concerned, I dont think FTM2019 supports Sort dates, I know it says it does on the link you posted, but I have looked through all the documentation, tried importing from your plugin using all different settings. FTM ignores the sort dates. ...

Dave, if you used that Excel workaround, would cells with hyperlinks to records & external URL be preserved? I suspect not.
Also dates prior to 1900 might pose a problem.
No they are not Mike, you are 100% correct :-)

Re: FH V7 Research Notes: Shared vs New

Can the table within a shared note be sorted? You can right click on a cell in the table and move the row up or down, but you have to do it for every move, ie. you cannot, as far as I can see, move multiple rows or have a short cut key. EDIT: you could of course, paste it into excel, sort then past...

I have just tried to generate a pdf file using a family group report for 1190 famiies on an Intel i5 newish laptop with 8gb ram and 500gb SSD. Re: V7 PDF creation very slow, creating huge files

Just tried a few examples, no issues generating pdfs other than the known <para><br> issues. But a very large pdf file created for 13 pages with one small image, 15mb. Saved the same report as a rft file, loaded into Word, saved as a pdf, size 0.15Mb which about what I would expect, i.e.1% of the F...

It should not significantly matter how much RAM as it just means there is more Page Swapping to disk which is probably SSD these days. Anyway, the comparisons are often being done between similar spec PC running FH V6 versus FH V7, and FH V7 is much much slower if it works at all.
Exactly !

Re: V7 PDF creation very slow, creating huge files

64GB wow ! I cant see many other people having that much. It added £140 to the cost of the PC earlier this year, and I reckoned it was worth it -- Microsoft tend to assume that everyone has unlimited memory, after all. £140 is cheap for 64GB Not many programs would utilise that amount of memory but...

Re: V7 PDF creation very slow, creating huge files

My guess is that this is memory related -- how much memory does everybody's PC have? I have 16GB that should...

Re: V7 PDF creation very slow, creating huge files

I have given up trying to use the reporting option in V7, I have kept v6 on an old laptop, or I use Heredis. For me, with V7, I end up with memory errors (I have 16gb on a high spec Intel i7 computer) I have missing photos, blank pages, FH sometimes quits altogether. If it wasn't for the other impro...
