Why doesn't colour come thro' in a PDF chart

I've produced an All Gens Pedigree Chart for my wife and I and modified the Diagram>Options to show blue and red to highlight the names of males and females respectively. When I save the diagram as a PDF file and get it to open after saving it appears as black on white. Is there some way I can get i...

Any news on the iPad/Android app from Telgen?

Looking through the screen shots for iPad it appears at first to be very similar to Gedview, which is free, but this will cost you £5.49.  Probably very nice if you want a slightly larger Pedigree view and would like some maps of birthplaces/residences and the ability to have photos embedded but I t...

Deleting a lot of orphans

Having imported from Ancestry what I thought was a group of related individuals I find that there were a sizeable number of unrelated individuals included which I had missed because they were not showing on the Ancestry tree. Unfortunately these are cluttering up my Project folder with about 100 nam...

Grandad's missing on a census!

Nick , thanks for the clarification.

Mike, if I use that method I will bear that in mind. Thanks

John, I quite like the way you do it so bearing in mind what the other guys have said I'll have a go at your way first.

Many thanks to all of you for your responses,

Grandad's missing on a census!

Having left a grandfather off an 1861 census where he is shown as a lodger with his son's family I'd like to add him back now. As I read the knowledge base on AS I see he should be added by opening the property box for one of his relatives in that census entry and modifying his facts to reflect thei...

Merging PDF's into one document

You were spot on Mike, in my eagerness to start using Irfanview and try out the multiple page PDF technique I had completely missed that. I'll make a point now of going back to the menus and working thro' them and the HELP pages. Many thanks,

Merging PDF's into one document

Given the level of interest in this thread I thought I'd bring you up to date with my progress. Using Irfanview I successfully created a single PDF document from 75 jpegs but as the original page numbering, and some later inserts made by my mother on the backs of pages she had written on, resulted i...

Problem solved! In playing around with settings I had not noticed that the default is single image and that it had reset. Paying more attention after your post I kept it at Multiple and found all three images in the folder I had designated.
Many thanks

I'm on my iPad at the moment so will double check later but am pretty certain I did follow the same route you suggest albeit whilst I'm certain it was Multiple Images I selected I cannot be 100% certain I Saved Aquired Images to file. I'll come back later. Thanks

Back again! While the scanner is linked up and I'm in IRFANVIEW mode I tried to scan some photos to support the PDF I have just created. Previously if I scanned for example four 6x4 photos on the platen and then opened the resulting image in Elements I could split the scan into four separate images ...

Gosh, am I impressed with Irfanview! The thumbnails worked beautifully, displaying discs and folders like Windows Explorer, such a time saver and aid to file selection. Using Thumbnails I located the 65 pages of my mother's life story and in just two or three steps had created a single document in P...

Thanks for pointing that out Peter. I had noticed the Thumbnails icon had appeared on the desktop but had not got round to investigating what it is for yet. I obviously need to spend some time finding out what Irfanview can do once I've had another go at the PDF's.

Thanks for your replies I was just beginning to read about something called
BATCH PDF PRO 1. 9. 26 but will stick with the obviously successful Irfanview for the moment and see how I get on with that. Point taken re version 4.35 would that include plugins or are they added after download?

Merging PDF's into one document

I must have been impressed with what I read about Irfanview some time ago as searching for it on my PC I find I have it already. Having fired it up I don't see anything that would enable me to combine a set of jpegs (76 in all) into one PDF document. When I look at Irfanview's website I can see a se...

Peter, John , Many thanks for your responses. I will have a look at both. I seem to recall Irfanview beiNg recommended on a photography website quite frequently so it appears to be a quite versatile program.
Thanks again

How do I show links to a loosely connected group?

This may well have been asked before but I can't see anything similar: For some time now we have been researching my wife's ancestors in South London and have repeatedly found a number of people with same surname and in the same location but with no obvious link. This weekend we found a parish marri...

Backup and Media

I had exactly the same until I realised ( or more likely was advised!) that  the backup is,of course, not in the same location as the project Gedcom file. Hence, when you open the backup file it cannot see the images you are looking for as the path is different. At least that is how I understand it....
