Creating a spreadsheet from a custom query
Hi, thankyou both for your answers and your questions. This has got me asking myself : i. What is it I'm trying to achieve and how do I go about getting there? ii. Where is the information coming from and how easy will it be to maintain it? iii. Is it all going to be worthwhile? I started by thinkin...

Creating a spreadsheet from a custom query
I've hit a problem. My intention was to have a spreadsheet with all Census and Certificates shown as being found on Ancestry and/or copies available. This, along with dates for birth and death would show me what gaps I have both in Family Historian and Ancestry. The initial copying of data from Cens...

A Grave problem
I have just discovered that my paternal grandmother was buried in Nunhead Cemetery (one of the 7 great Victorian London cemeteries) in 1925. I have just seen a photo of her grave and it has a wooden surround about 4'-6' high and is covered in geraniums and other plants. What is puzzling me is that t...

Creating a spreadsheet from a custom query

Can anyone point me in the right direction please? D...

AS source titles
Lorna and Mike, thanks for your replies. I think it comes down to my having established what I thought was an adquate title and then not noticing that creating a lengthy Reference would add the same data into the title. I'm taking more care now! Your points about editing titles are noted Thanks Dagw...

AS source titles
Whilst reviewing my sources under the Records window I notice I have quite a bit of variation in the format of the titles created whilst entering data from census' etc. I put this down to the fact that the title changes as data is enterd and I have to go back and delete duplicated years/names etc an...

Help needed recreating Project structure
Thanks Mike and Nick,
I'll follow up your points and advice.
I guess one thing I keep forgetting is that using DropBox lulls you (actually me!) into a false belief that all is centralised when in fact both AS and FH are running on seperate machines and need attention at both.

Mike, thanks for the info re XP. All seems to be working ok other than if I open the Project window I notice that in the top left it says Current Project : FH Project but there is nothing shown in the centre panel. Is this how it should be? Nick, your answer made me look back into My Documents on bo...

Mike, you were spot-on with the .ged.ged observation. As soon as I deleted one .ged the Project File opened in Work with External File Links and AS opened correctly. Now I'm going to follow your advice re Windows settings for W7 on my PC and I'll look at XP on the netbook. I'll get back with how it ...

Back again! I think I have all the right items in all the right places (as per Mike's last illustration) and the Gedcom file opens ok on both PC and Netbbok via DropBox however..... When I click on FH Project I get: http://www.fhug.rjt.org.uk/images/uploads/Unable_to_open_Project_1.JPG When I click ...

Thanks Mike , nearly there. Looks like I had dragged and dropped files accidentally in wrong place. All opening ok but not quite in right order but i think that is because I worked too late last night and haven't followed your structure 100% correctly. I'll let you know how it goes later today Many ...

Oh dear! I never save the back-up as a zip file ,I always change the option to save as a Ged. Have I burnt my bridges I wonder? I will now search for the suffix fh_proj in my back-ups elsewhere and of course if deleted it should be in my DropBox's deleted folder. Back later and thanks for your repli...

Viewing multimedia images
Nick Walker said: If you use a report such as 'Individual Summary Report' you can see the individual, their facts and the sources and the images linked to them. I hadn't used this report before but now see that for me it is invaluable. I have been using it to work thro' a number of members of my tr...

Viewing multimedia images
Thanks to all who took the trouble to reply. It obviously is not as straightforward as I had hoped. The Individual Summary Report shows all the images but is rather lengthy and appears to add images linked to other people who are in turn related to the subject eg my pictures appear in the report for...

For a horrible moment I thought I had lost the links to Census images linked to a number of people in my tree. I now realise that the ones that show below the property box are those entered before I used Ancestral Sources. Is it posssible to show all multimedia for one person together without having...

Hi Bob, I relayed your suggestions to my sister-in-law and it seems to have resolved the problem on my brother's PC . Sorry to raise something entirely unrelated to FH but my brother has a problem with Skype and I cannot resolve it. I access Skype using an icon on the taskbar without problem; my brother who is partailly sighted has lost the icon and has to login which takes him to the acccount page. For some reason...

Excuse my ignorance but how do you use that info on Ancestry. I've had a look but cannot see where one inputs the Folio details.

Finding a church baptism to match a LDS scan
I have a relative Edwin Kitchener Piper b 11 Jan 1840 and baptised April 1840 according to the LDS record I find through Ancestry. However there is no image and I do not seem to be able to find a St James ,Westminster on the Ancestry list of Westminster churches. Can anyone help and provide some inf...

Prison/Police records
We've just found some records for 1841 and 1892 that indicate a family member as being a Jailer(or Gaoler) and/or Policeman either in Millwall or Pentonville prisons but we never find him on a census which seems odd given that covers 6 census'. Does anyone know where we can look at Prison Officer ...
