Where is the auto diplay root siblings option? All I've found is the tick box for auto expanding root siblings branches and that doesn't have the same effect, it still lists the siblings.

V5 Ancestor and Descendants diagram

Would it be possible to fix the above diagram so that it complies with the description of   ' ..is simply the grafting of an Ancestors diagram on top of a Descendants diagram' . At present in V5 the result achieved is an A&D diagram for the diagram roots parents not the diagram root with a resultant...

Ancestors and Descendants diagram in V5

I have to agree with Lorna. The title leads one to believe you are getting, as the book describes, a descendent grafted on to an ancestor diagram. Unfortunately we seem to be more concerned about whether earlier versions did or did not do it rather than should or shouldn't it show siblings, spouse ,o...

Ancestors and Descendants diagram in V5

Put as logically as you have Lorna it would appear to be an error in the program writers logic. Perhaps it should go on the wish list after all as the effect we are seeing is the same as an All Descendants for, as you say, the diagram root's parents.

Ancestors and Descendants diagram in V5

Having read the page Lorna referred to and then trying out the Insert into Diagram procedure I now realise how easy it is to add the Descendents onto the Ancestors diagram. It must take all of a minute to do! Thanks for pointing that out. Having created a simpler A&D diagram than the one I referred ...

Ancestors and Descendants diagram in V5

When I produced the above in V4 for my cousins and Aunts/Uncles I'm pretty certain I got a straightforward tree specific to them. In V5 I see I get their siblings ,the siblings spouses and offspring and the offsprings' spouses. I can get rid of the spouse information but there's too much information...

That's fascinating how they are constructed. How do you find out so much about the structure so soon after release and is there anywhere that goes into the detail of V5 for numbskulls like me to read up? Anyway my thanks for the advice from both of you. I can extract the centre; I can see how the sh...

Installing FH V5

That's a good point Mike but probably one that should not cause us too many problems as darling daughter will be mainly updating Ancestry.com and using FH as Read Only.
Thanks for your thoughts re use of V4.

Installing FH V5

I had two questions, this thread answered the first. The second is if I install full disc version of V5 over the top of V4 I now have a spare boxed set of Version 4 and darling daughter does not have FH at all. As they are both paid for and V4 will not be on either of my mc's is it ok for me to inst...

Creating a spreadsheet from a custom query

I cleared everything on the Rows filters list , added the Id column as suggested, ran the query and...... Bingo! I now have a spreadsheet with all recorded people plus census data and I now feel I'm ready to start adding B,M and D's to it. A very big Thankyou Mike. I would never have known what to ad...

Thanks Mike, that worked but having looked at the result in FH I'm not sure now that it is going to help me. I appreciate the help you and Merenwen have given but feel as if I'm no nearer to having a means of producing a spreadsheet which enables me to check my FH data against my Ancestry data witho...

Kinsfolk queries problem

I'm making good use of the two Kinsfolk queries but find it annoying when using them on my netbook and try to adjust the column widths. Unlike, I believe, all other queries they have a pop-up reminder that no changes can be saved and this has to be cleared each time a column is changed. Is there any...

A Grave problem

Thanks Gerry, I'd come across multiple burials before but never with such heavily planted graves in what seem like raised flower beds and with 4 headstones erected along the grave. Odd but perhaps overcrowding was behind it.

Creating a spreadsheet from a custom query

Jane, I think you may have misunderstood where my 5 trees are. They are all in Ancestry, not FH, and are kept seperate purely because they are all public and we don't see any need for interested ( ie invited guests) people to see trees they have no connection with. Ultimately all the people in all t...
