Re: Exporting to Gedsite format problem
Mike, do you know if most/all genealogical software does/doesn't create a MARR record, even if there is no actual data entered? I'm just perplexed as to how people have got along with Gedsite/Second Site if couples are detached from one another when no marriage data has been entered. I can't be the ...

Re: Exporting to Gedsite format problem
Thanks for the suggestions. Adding a circa date might be iffy, what if the married couple never married etc, even if I suspected they did. But just because a couple didn't marry doesn't mean that I don't want them to appear as a couple. But I can't add that they were an unmarried couple either as th...

Re: Exporting to Gedsite format problem
It's certainly going to cause me a major headache if F.H. isn't creating MARR records for couples who do not have date/location entered  Is this a query for Calico Pie perhaps? Or is not creating a MARR record somehow complying with the Gedcom standard when date/location isn't entered? If the ...

Exporting to Gedsite format problem
Hi, I’ve recently been using the Gedsite website creation software with impressive results. However, there seems to be a problem with the Export Gedcom Plug-in when exporting to Gedsite format. If a couple do not have any details entered in the marriage fields, it detaches the couple. I don’t have m...

Re: Gedsite
I've been in touch with John and lists/flags aren't currently supported, but he writes that they will be in the future. So I think I'll hang on until then, and then I'll use your plug-in, Mike. Thanks for the link, Brian. I did find the Announcement Group but failed to find the Discussion Group, so ...

Re: Gedsite
I tried looking for a user forum for the product but I can't find one. I can't seem to email John either. It states that large Gedcoms might make the software fail, but it doesn't state how large. I use flags, so at to sort lists of names on my website, for example, World War One casualties. Does it...

Gedsite
Hi,
I was wondering if any Family Historian users have successfully created a website using Gedsite? http://www.gedsite.com/en/index.htm
If so, what are the pros and cons of it?

Re: Creating attractive books
If printing a book, I'd recommend using, http://www.tcgr.bufton.org/ Family Historian likes to clump all the facts into a single paragraph which doesn't make easy reading and looks awful.

Re: Pre-release of version 6.1
I think I might wait a while before 'upgrading', lol. Prior to version 6, the most used location appeared first in auto completion. With version 6, it seems to be based on some kind of alphabetical preference. So, for example, I have around 300 'City Road Cemetery' instances but only one 'City Bus C...

Re: Picture Captions -FH V6
I experienced the same problem here (and somebody else did too not so long ago): http://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=11228&p=52725&hilit=craig+mollekin#p52725 I still experience the problem but live with it, lol. Odd why Calico Pie has never given an option on report output to fix this...

Re: Hyperlinked Reports
Thanks, I've tried the 'Improve Website or CD DVD HTML' plugin for my websites but not thought about using it on a report
Thanks, although I think Calico Pie will have more chance of finding a solution than me developing one

Re: Hyperlinked Reports
I guess what I mean is, for example, if you find a name in the report Index for a person, then rather than having to find the page with the individual on, you can just click on the name in the Index to be taken the relevant page. There is software that already does this, but I'm trying to generate a...

Hyperlinked Reports
Hello,
It would be nice if there was an option to generate PDF reports with hyperlinks so that it is possible to just click on names etc rather than having to manually flick through to the relevant page etc.

Duplicate photos
Hi, I've noticed that when I attach the same photos to the same locations for an individual, generated web pages display the SAME photos over and over again. For example, my relation lived at High Street in Chesterton in two different years. I attached the SAME link to both residence events and the ...

Re: Changing place names
I've just merged three Gedcoms which resulted in 15,000 place records. Trying to tidy up the redundant places was a nightmare as I couldn't see the wood for the trees for all the places with 0 records attached. I couldn't delete them but I merged them away. I selected all the zero entry places and t...

Re: Report advice needed please
Thanks Mike. I've been able to add all the people to a report associated with the street by using a query (contains text query), but I'm wanting the report to focus on each property, so a section for #1 house, #2 house and so on. I'm probably asking the impossible though and guess I will have to wri...
