Outputting additional information

Hello,

As we know, it is possible to add additional fields to events such as email, phone number and website etc. But, is there any way to enable the output of this information when generating reports etc?

Kind Regards,

Craig Mollekin

Citations

Hi, I have accidentally added incorrect citations to scores of records that I shouldn't have.  I can view my list of source records, but I cannot find a list of the actual citations.  I can see how many citations are credited to the actual source record, but not the actual citations.  Is there a way...

Forgetting Dates

I emailed Calico Pie yesterday and they stated that they weren't aware of the problem and that the problem hadn't been logged. But the problem has now been passed onto the Developers. I looked at the latest beta version, but it doesn't appear to address the problem, which considering Calico Pie were...

Forgetting Dates

How do you cause it to happen, Steve? I can't replicate it.

Forgetting Dates

Well, I don't use autosave, so I don't think it's that. [lol] But yeah, maybe you're right - perhaps it's linked to the same problem somehow.

I contacted Calico Pie. They weren't aware of the problem. The issue has now been passed on to the Developers, so fingers crossed. [grin]

Date problem

Yes, Steve - this would appear to be the same problem as:- http://www.fhug.org.uk/cgi-bin/index.cgi?action=forum&board=v5usage&op=display&num=6230 Thanks for the advice regarding your workaround, although I'm not sure that this will be practical for me. It is worrying this problem does not appear to...

Forgetting Dates

I would like to add that I always put the year at the end of the date. I always enter a date as, 03/12/1975 for example and then tab along to the next field. I'm not sure if the date disappears once I've tabbed to the next (location) field or if if it is when I am entering a new fact. I try to notic...

Forgetting Dates

I always use the tab option. It occurs so randomly, it is impossible to replicate. I never had this problem with v3 or v4, so it's definitely not me doing it wrong, lol.

Forgetting Dates

Hi, Since upgrading to version 5, I notice that occasionally when I enter a date (birth, marriage, death, event, whatever)the date enters into the date field okay but when I move onto a different field (such as place), the date that I entered disappears out of the box. I can't really replicate this ...

Remains of old Gedcom left after tree split

Thanks, Jane.

P.S. - To anybody reading this thread, the problem is only a small one which is niggling me. I've used a number of genealogical programs over the years and Family Historian is still the best one out there by a lump.

Remains of old Gedcom left after tree split

It is a limitation I will have to accept I guess. I generally use PHP scripts with which I encounter no errors. However, Family Historian's persistance on leaving remnants means that trees produced with the html generator, Gedmill, appear untidy with lots of 'unkn's. Having 'ukn's tends to confuse v...

Remains of old Gedcom left after tree split

Hi Peter, Thanks for the reply, although I'm perhaps getting confused somewehere along the line... You state, ' A previously linked Family record has to remain in the file ' - why is this? For example, if I split a man from his wife for privacy reasons, why are remnants of the relationship left behi...

Remains of old Gedcom left after tree split

Hi, If for example a marriage is spilt as a result of a tree split and one of the partners is deleted (due to privacy reasons), the remnants of the marriage are still visible. This was highlighted to me when using Gedmill. Where ever a link previously existed (husband or parent) etc, Gedmill generat...

Remains of old Gedcom left after tree split

Hi, Most things seem to be left (names and marriages etc - I haven't got enough time to analyse and describe every remnant). I must admit, when I removed a person from the tree, I would also expect data associated with that person to be removed and not also (including their name). Why on earth would...

Improved Reporting

Hi,

Thanks for the reply although I don't believe it is possible to create separate lines on for narrative reports:-

Thanks anyway,

Improved Reporting

When producing genealogical reports, it would be nice if different facts, such as occupations and residences, could be bullet pointed or placed on different lines. Currently, everything is reported in one long gibberishy paragraph (potentially over a page long) which appears as though it has been wr...

Remains of old Gedcom left after tree split

Hi, I often split my Gedcoms for various reasons using the Tree Splitter Helper. However...I was a little shocked to discover that after splitting a branch off the main tree, the old names/data etc still remain in the Gedcom branch that has been split off. Okay, when the new branch has been split of...

Hi ejp.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I'd like the facts to appear on seperate lines for Narrative Reports. It doesn't look as though it is possible which surprises me.

Reports

Hi,

When generating a genealogical report, is it possible to present bulleted facts regarding individuals rather than a very long and continuous paragragh? Hope this makes sense.

Kind Regards,

Craig
