Editing Raw Rich Text
I know there is a method for editing the underlying rich text that I used a year ago, but I've forgotten what key and click combination it was. I have tried searching help and forum, but don't seem to have hit the right search term yet, so resorted to just asking.

AS 7.4.4 Crash on Census Entry
I decided to bite the bullet and do the relatively small number of 1921 census entries I need to add, and had a couple of crashes that I'd not met before when using the 7.2.x version a year ago when doing lots of census entries. It's difficult to pin down an exact sequence to reproduce it, but both ...

Re: media
Sounds like a network file location for a location that can't be reached. I used to get this at work (before retirement) sometimes with network locations that are no longer reachable. When Windows tries to connect to the remote location there is a 30s timeout in the network protocol waiting for a re...

Re: Multiple Sources on one page
I've used what Nick refers to as Policy 1 for baptisms, burials and census entries. Particularly since FH7/AS7 and using Rich Text to give a decent looking tabular output for the "Text from Source" (I re-did a lot of Source records at that time for this reason, and did some RT templates for AS). It ...

Re: Ancestral Sources Help function
I think this problem is one I had a few years back on my work computer. I can't for the life of me remember exactly what it was, or if I managed to fix it. I'm sure it was something to do with network permissions stopping IE (engine) correctly getting to the page (help page) in the chtml help file. ...

Re: Dialogue box stopping update
I don't use the plug-in although I have it installed, for similar reasons to Nick, I find it quicker to click save in FH and then launch AS from a W10 taskbar icon with a second click. I was ages ago caught by the modal dialog, but knew why and it was my fault. I mostly remember to close out of floa...

Re: AS on a go Slow
Yeah, it seems Ok most of the time, and previously I've wondered if it was related to AS needing to shut down, but I almost always do a single source and close it down before starting again for the next one. I also wondered if it was related FH which I tend to keep running. Recycling FH as well mayb...

AS on a go Slow
Hi Nick, I've not pinned down the exact circumstances that lead to this, but I have found a sudden slowdown of AS when entering information on the Residence tab of the Baptism source. The usual occurrence is than I have unchecked the Individual Residence & Birthplace and the Mother's Residence. I th...

Testing for unspecified individual (auto-text)
I was trying to test if an individual had been specified as otherwise it shows <No Name> as the output. I assumed I could simply use =EQUALS[{KEYPERSON}%<No Name>] as a condition (actually using EQUALSNOT), but that does not appear to work as it always resolves to False regardless of whether I have ...

Yeah, that's what I figured. Ok, I have a couple of tweaks I want to add, then I'll see about uploading so people can rip them apart
if anyone is actually interested.

Place and Address Parts
Hi, Another idea that I came across when doing auto-text was a desire to get at the specific part of a place or address (I realise people can record these in all sorts of ways). Currently you have implemented x.SHORT and x.MEDIUM which are fine, but I was wishing to get just the county specifically ...

Auto-text templates query
Hi Nick, Me again :) Been using 7.2 and not found any issues, WORDNUMORD is working as I hoped it would, so I could include it in my auto-text templates as planned. A question arising from this is if I wanted to upload the templates for others to use to the FHUG KB, what would be the most appropriat...

Re: Idea: Marriage Banns
Ok, so I found it and read it. Long and covers lots of things I had thought about. It does seem to be a knotty problem to do right for every case. So, I'll stick to my various auto-text templates and fill in the missing bits, which is mainly dates to copy paste the output to a manually created sourc...

Re: Including Region in a Census title
The flags option is still available, as I still use it to include census year flags on diagram boxes. I am planning to change to expressions, but not got round to it. So, any existing use of Record flags you have should still work as they did prior to V7. I Last week added a WW1 Death flag to put a ...

Re: Couple of minor issues with 7.1.3
I tend to forget all the options available and just use as it comes, so would have missed that, and I use RT versions now. I checked and the RT version of Parish Registers 1837- (England/Wales) unlike plain text one has a No. but does not include any field value, so is blank, hence my comment about ...

Re: Couple of minor issues with 7.1.3
On the second point, the Ref ID field in AS goes in to the source record Publication info field rather than the transcription itself. I personally put the record entry number in the Other Info field, and had added {OTHER} to the template in the right place to have it go in to the transcription. Simi...

Re: Query: Auto-text surnames of married women
Thanks for the explanation Nick. There are so many options for customising that I tend to forget to even consider going and having a look to see if something may be having an effect (not your fault). At least I understand why two different surnames were occurring, which is what mystified me. I'm not...

Re: Query: Auto-text surnames of married women
Thanks for that, I figured it was a difficult problem to deal with. I wouldn't have really asked about it normally, for this reason. The reason I did, was because the same individual is producing two different surnames in the same template depending on which keyword is being used. I didn't understan...

Query: Auto-text surnames of married women
I have tried to figure this out from the help, but I'm a bit stumped. I was using KEYPERSON and INFORMANT for a new version of the death auto-text 1969-2007. The problem I have is also demonstrated if using the default template as well. Simply put a married woman in as the dead person and the inform...

Hi Nick, You'll probably put a hit out on me for this for not thinking of it sooner but... In building up a template I have realised that =WORDNUM could do with an additional option. It's great so far and for those years is fine, but when you do a day of the month you'd really want the final word to...

Surely you can't mean me being demanding , I just found a few bugs that needed fixing :) which led to a few hints of extras that then magically appeared; a darn sight sooner than I ever expected. Sounds like you're already on the case with something like I suggested. Any time frame (I don't kno...
