Re: Title Template Data References
You're a star Nick, just how I'd have done it. I better go remind myself where I wanted to use it as it's been a while and wouldn't want it to go to waste.

Re: Title Template Data References
This relates back to something I asked about last winter (or was it the previous one) when I was doing a lot of stuff and playing with AS auto-text and title templates. The .SHORT for places and addresses only grabs up to the first comma, which is fine for a lot of things, but IIRC I asked about a f...

Re: Title Template Data References
Well actually It's at the point of downloading the image from whatever sire I'm using that I have to pick the directory and I usually click an existing file to get part of the name right and the change the year (if needed) and add the name. Been doing it so long it's not a chore any more. Also, some...

Re: Title Template Data References
I generally rename the media files for consistency and then leave the media record to inherit that name. As far as getting the source record name to be something consistent you may need to get familiar with the AS features for templating titles. I use this one for census sources long title, which en...

Query for Source Media with no Linked Area
This relates to a post in August I just found, but that thread didn't fully reveal the solution. I was wanting to do a query to find Sources with a Media record that I'd forgotten to add an area link (Link face etc. on the image). I looked at the GEDCOM and identified the _AREA held the information ...

Re: Census Conversion
I think that's the approach I'd take if doing it. After all, you already have the plain to rt process in place. So, no point in replicating it. Also, you'll have control over the rt to plain text, so should be able to generate 'ideal' plain text to feed through the existing conversion.

Re: Census Conversion
I really wish I'd done hyperlinks once they came available. I manually used AS to redo the original plain text ones to RT but didn't consider links at the time. Having used them in notes and other transciptions and seen how useful they are, I regret that decision. I watched the intro video although ...

Re: Births Index template for AS?
In the note associated with Birth Index entries, I also include the mother's maiden name (mmn) when provided. This records all the information included in the Index entry and helps resolve conflicting information. Similarly, for Death Index entries, I also include the age at death/birth date includ...

Re: Births Index template for AS?
I certainly do as Nick suggests, which is add a note with the GRO info to the birth event (and marriage, death/burial etc.) i.e. GRO: Q4 1937, Birmingham, 6d, 699 for older ones and GRO: Q4 1996 Apr, Lewisham(2421D), D37A, 023 for the more recent ones. I still have a few I occasionally come across i...

So, I apologise for starting the massive drift of this tread from column widths to old COBOL reminiscences
. Oh, and I did some COBOL back in Uni in '80, so I'm not left out

Re: Auto Text column widths
I have no issue with the built-ins, but as they are common across all templates, it's just a bit tricky to always use them in the more complex tabular ones I've done, unless you never plan to redefine them in the options due to unwanted side-effects on others. I dislike literal values (old programme...

Re: Auto Text column widths
Yes, I do as I have to use numbers to get columns to line up when there is a heading above multiple columns. I try to use the built-ins where possible though. The only reason for being able to have a local literal is to make it easier to adjust widths that are used in multiple rows by redefining it ...

Re: Auto Text column widths
This doesn't work for non-census sources (but they don't generally have as many columns). Yeah, about that... I just discovered FMP has lots of India/Burma records for Birth/Marriage/Burial, and they have up to 15 columns. I've been cooking up some auto-text templates for them. See attached image. ...

Re: Getting an Error with View Match Details... links
I did the same, and I assumed FP was short-form for FindMyPast, and would be internally expanded using some config mapping to the actual URL. So FP-A would mean FindMyPast Accepted (and FP-N for New and FP-R for Rejected). I just enabled MyHeritage to check, and the links are MH-A etc. so I think I'...

Re: New FindMyPast Premium Subscription
Typical, I got a subscription two days ago after trialling FMP on a one month subscription in August (mainly to get some 1921 census entries). The £20 upgrade is cheaper then micropayments for a bunch of others I was leaving until such time as there was a package that included them, which turns out ...

Re: Getting an Error with View Match Details... links
Oh, so it's a reproducible issue and not just something I've done, phew! It was working during August this year as I had a 1 month FMP subscription as I couldn't wait to grab some 1921 census entries. I also did some work using the hint integration as I'd not had a subscription to a supported site, ...

Re: Getting an Error with View Match Details... links
It's a bit strange. I haven't moved PC or re-installed FH, although I recently cleared my cookies etc. in FireFox, but that shouldn't affect FH at all as this issue is within FH. I use FireFox as an external browser for the hints as it's more convenient on a separate monitor rather that the build in...

I am using Automatic Internet Data Matching with Find My Past, and it's had been working well when I used it a lot a couple of months ago. Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5
Oh, I so wish I had this feature back in Nov/Dec 2021 when FH7 came out. I used AS to re-enter 10's of plaintext census' to generate Source Texts in RichText, and also re-did loads of parish register entries (to my own neater looking AutoText Templates). I now don't have any old plaintext census one...

Re: Editing Raw Rich Text
Just remembered I asked this, thanks for the reply. I was using it a year ago when I was creating some Rich Text templates. I actually did most work in the end in AS rather than FH, but initially I was playing around using MS Word to create and then putting in FH, but it was a bit 'random'. It was m...
