Re: How to save a diagram for forwarding via email.
Sorry for the confusion. What I want to do is save copy of a diagram that I can then forward as an attachment to an e-mail message. Once I have the diagram, which in this case is the ancestors/descendants of someone in my family tree, what should I do next? As for my comments about Windows 10, forge...

How to save a project for forwarding via email.
I cannot move to a the display screen for converting a diagram to a usable format which I hope to send to a fellow Family Historian member. I am using Windows 10 for the first time and it does not like FH along with several other programs of mine

Re: Showing Relationship to Root Individual in Reports
Jane,
Excuse my ignorance; how do I add the code you suggested =CombineText(Relationship(FileRoot(),%INDI%,TEXT,1)," of ",FileRoot())) to the Index in a Book?

How to separate the In-laws family names to a new GEDCOM.
My in-laws want their own GEDCOM without all of the other family branches. At present theirs are part of the main family tree. Other than re-entering all of the records what can I do. I am using FH 6.0.

Looking for Newman family in Ohio
I am searching for the ancestors of my Grandfather William Wallace Newman. According to census reports and his death certificate he was born January 31, 1858, in Ohio (city unknown) and that he died December 19, 1919, in Monmouth, Polk Co., Oregon. Supposedly both his parents (names unknown) were bo...

Two sets of parents
I have a family member whose birth parents gave her up for adoption. The new 'parents' then changed her name. Here is an example (not the real names): Mary Smith was born to John and Sally Smith who then gave her up for adoption to Fred and Ethel Jones. The Jones changed her name from Mary Smith to ...

Spouses with Common Ancestors
Thank you both for the replies. I did not think the connections were wrong, just surprising. I do have some cousins who married (verified by contacts with family members). Oh, by the way, Stewartrb, my wife is a 17th cousin once removed of Barack Hussein OBAMA Jr., so that makes her and your wife di...

Spouses with Common Ancestors
I have traced back several generations for me and my wife and have found (according to FH) when I run the 'How related' routine that we are very-very distant cousins. Most of which are from our England connections. My question is: Has anyone else run into this situation; and should I trust those old...

How to save into separate files
Thanks all for the feedback. I will not mess with what already works.
It was my idea to break the file into segments, especially the trees of in-laws. I thought it would be easier to manage all the records.
The idea about named lists seems a good option. I'll give it a go.

How to save into separate files
I have over 14,000 names in the one project file and would like to separate into several individual files. So far I have considered the following steps (tedious as they seem): Save several copies of the original file under new file names. 1. Create diagrams of each family grouping. 2. Block-delete r...

Messed up Relationship
Tatewise and Jane,
Thanks for replies. I will trace down the lines until I find where the relationship switches from my side to my wife's.

Marital status entry
The marriage status entry allows for divorsed, separated, etc., but nothing to show 'death of spouse.' This would be helpful when a widow or widower marries again. The only option now is to leave the status box empty.

Messed up Relationship
When I run the relationship option for me and my wife, it returns that we are distant--very distant--cousins as well as being married. I doubt that we have common ancestors so I want to find the link and unlink it. When I run the 'display graphically' routine It shows the chart with a color code of ...

Counting records
Hi tatewise,
Thanks, the file statistics worked great. It was so easy that I am embarrased to admit I could not figure it out or find the answer in the help screen.
p.s. I now know I have 14,407 individuals in the file.

How can I count all the names in the family tree. I suppose counting them one by one in the name index is one way, I am hoping there is a better method.
Any ideas?

How to delete multiple entires.
I need to delete a large number of entries. It turned out that I was tracking the wrong set of parents and loaded from several GEDCOM files, thanks to some misguided relatives.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
