Sorry I've been away from this thread for a while - a very busy period followed by a few days away means I haven't had a chance to work with Family Historian for a while. I'm glad to see it looks like the problem has been resolved - I can't check this on my computer yet, as the upgrade doesn't work ...

I've copied msvcrt.dll version 7.0.2600.5512 over all the other previous versions and rebooted, but FH will still only work before the web browser is loaded. It must be a different file extension from the browser that's causing the problem.
Now I really do have to go do some work!

Well, I've definitely had some positive results today: I wasn't quite sure what you meant by renaming the file - i.e. what to change the name to, but I tried copying the WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 version in place of the two older versions. I tried it in the abbyy reader first, rebooted, opened FH, text was s...

I seem to have lots! I added version to the search results and took some screenshots, to save typing it all out:

I put the computer in safe mode, loaded FH, and everything was the right way up. I closed the programme and went back in a couple of times - still the right way up every time. Now I'm back in normal mode, it's back to upside down again. Cathy. P.S. I'll be offline now until tomorrow morning, so will...

Mine is: Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3. I am now occasionally getting the text the right way up and normal size by working with the box as floating instead of docked, but it's not at all consistent, and there's no apparent reason for the change. As to other programmes, I've had...

It's not being consistent - I closed the programme down and when I opened it up again, increasing the font size changed straight from upside down to invisible in all cases.

Just discoverd I was wrong before: Ariel, Maiandra GD, Palatino Linotype, or Times New Roman only disappear from 14 point upwards (it's like they're too big for the box) and are upside down size 12 or below.

Resizing the window has no effect. I've had a play with some different fonts and sizes, which does produce some interesting (weird!) results. Using Ariel, Maiandra GD, Palatino Linotype, or Times New Roman (any size) makes the occupation and place boxes completely blank until highlighted with the cu...

The places are also upside down in the detail tab - and in the facts tab, but only in the field, not the list:

I have installed the V4 trial (to a computer using XP, which did not already have V3 running) and noticed that in the occupation and place fields of the Property Box, the text appears upside down. From the Sample Project file: http://www.fhug.rjt.org.uk/images/uploads/untitled77.JPG I was wondering ...
