Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
Is there a way of copying a query result without it putting each line in " " inverted commas. Notepad Find doesn't seem to work on punctuation!

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
Hi Jane,
What is your query looking for. I made a named list last night of all those living, manually, can it pick that up?
Regards

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
Jane, It's a while since I used MYSQL and then it was just adding or deleting product types and codes etc into the tables. So first I need to refresh my way around in the tables etc. I have accessed MYSQL and can see the column of "living" and how your code would work but how do I go about clearing ...

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
I would like all diagrams and reports to work without empty death events.
If the TNG SQL settings can be over-ridden, that sounds the better option.
Rather than forcing one M/C to make alterations to get the other to work properly.
As always thanks for your efforts.

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
Hi Jane,
My issue is not the living, it is those that are dead and have been for some considerable while, but are identified as living because they have no birth or death record. Are you telling me that you can separate them from the genuine living?
Regards

Peter
The only issue left with that is in FH diagrams you get Dead: .. everywhere you use it. Probably in reports as well?

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
When you say TNG displays nothing, do you mean everywhere, or just in narrative reports? Surely if a Death Event exists (i.e. DEAT in GEDCOM) then TNG must display something. Otherwise, how were you able to add Y to it in your earlier experiments? On the Individuals information sheet if there is no...

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
Edit: This was written before Tatewises' previous post If you type a Y into a TNG field it then displays as Yes, date unknown. If you put 1 DEAT Y into a gedcom and then upload to TNG it does not hide the person from Living, hence "It worked" but it did not display Yes, date unknown. When I put that...

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
Why do you say: "you will have to redo it every time you upload an updated Gedcom" ? Because an updated gedcom from FH will replace the gedcom in TNG, any editing done in TNG will be lost. I am not aware of any way to upload part gedcoms. If a fact in TNG has all empty fields nothing is displayed i...

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
As I said, I did not understand Peter's posts I had no idea how to get a Y into the gedcom. I knew it was possible to edit a gedcom in Notebook so, as I mentioned, I tried with a small gedcom that didn't matter if it was screwed up. So yes, probably, obviously, anything you do to create a Death Fact...

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
From Peter's post I made a small gedcom and in Notepad pasted in "I DEAT Y" into several peoples record, imported into TNG and it worked. Then I spotted Tatewise post on my way back to FH. So having a look at the gedcom file in FH the ones that I put "I DEAT Y" into now have a "Y" (just as typed wit...

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
You will have to give me a lot more than that to go on Peter.
Then when I understand it, are you telling me that it will put a Y in the death date field in TNG?

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
I've found a better way. I thought about putting a 1 in the date for death in TNG. It worked but not really what I wanted. So I tried a Y that worked even better by changing to "Yes, date unknown" Now all I have to do is a find an easy way to locate all those without birth / death dates and put a Y ...

Re: How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
If i can use a living or private flag from FH and it works in TNG, without using their settings, then I don't need to use the living option in TNG. Problem solved. Can I set either flag in FH without it affecting those without birth and death dates. How does the FH Privacy flag get set is it just ma...

How to not mark the deceased without dates as living
Using FH gedcom export & plugin Export gedcom file, I have put a tree onto TNG and use their settings for hiding the information of the living. My problem is it also hides the information of anyone else who doesn't have a birth or death date but who has long since departed. Other than using fictitio...

Image Keywords
In all the time I have been using FH I have rarely bothered with image keywords so the default keyword "photo" has been inserted. I have now found after uploading my gedcom to TNG that I have "Keyword Photo" with nearly every image, "Keyword" only appears if there is one. Is there an easy way of rem...

Re: exporting to Ancestry trying to removing ages
Yes Mike, that was what I was working from. But when the file wouldn't upload I assumed it was to do with something I had read that said Ancestry couldn't cope with 'ages'. When in fact it was because I had used the wrong copy of too many versions I had made while experimenting.

exporting to Ancestry trying to removing ages
I have created a small ged file from my main file. Removing unwanted data and all media with the aid of Plugins and some by hand. But Ancestry will not accept it saying not a proper ged file. Which I think is because my ged file still includes ages. I have used the "Clean unwanted fields" plugin on ...

Re: Sort on "Name Suffix"
Sorry Mike I've managed to confuse myself as well! I thought the Query was searching for "Title". The query works very well as it is thank-you very much. The only other possible option I can think of is a method of being able to select all of those with a "Title" attribute entry.

Re: Sort on "Name Suffix"
Thank-you Mike, Reports are sorted I did not have the settings on "All" With the query I have a problem with using just "Title" as the search in the query. As was discussed in an earlier post 14169|Fact Types I am now also using "office" and "rank" in the sentence along with "title". So would it be ...

Also I have been looking at reports and note that Titles are included in the Summary Reports but not in the Narrative Reports is that so, or is there somethi...

Re: Sort on "Name Suffix"
Jane, I hadn't realised until I used your column that I had collected over 300 titled people (great after so many years of Ag Labs) so yes I would be interested in what you have done. A while back I was asking how people recorded such information but I still am not sure how to, or how I want to reco...
