Sprucing Up The Wishlist

I have been looking at the wishlist which Jane has been excellently maintaining for a number of years. In case you are unaware, the idea of it is to highlight to Calico Pie what we, the users, feel is missing or could be improved in, or added to, Family Historian. Calico Pie, the makers, of course a...

A similar topic was discussed. Here: http://www.fhug.org.uk/cgi-bin/index.cgi?action=forum&board=General&op=display&num=5983 The suggestion was made that a) fact sets could be set up and b) output could be run through one of the online translate engines. A closed WL - #152 existed There is still WL#...

Thanks both.

With the item being too vague and the lack of interest I think it should be closed.

How to save into separate files

My advise would be not to do it.

I did it, splitting it by grandparents. I then got a better pc and then wanted to re-combine - and it all went horribly.

My current project has 34,000 individuals and through queries and named lists I can manage it.

government e-petition

There's a website called LostCousins. The guy sends out a monthly newsletter, sometimes interesting...

In April he wrote:

'BMD certificates - the saga continues' which notes that a later petition is 'better'

The abbreviations are normally explained at the front of the roll. If you're using something like Ancestry, it will be a few scans in after the scanner's notes and book covers etc.

Find Duplicate Individuals Version 1.5+

The Non-Duplicates list existed but was empty on the first run.

I added all bar the 8 records to Non-Duplicates and it appears to be running ok that way.

Mike, Hush my pups! How did you suss that out? Yes, a William John Wilton has sneaked his way into the Non-Duplicates named list. I guess he matched against a William H Michell of St Cleer, Cornwall who born 23 years before him, same place. or William John Michell of Millom, Cumberland who has the s...

Mike,

I'm testing with a subset gained through a query. It actually took 9:45

The description page tells me that it will still check all the records against the subset, which is why, I guess, the estimate vs the actual time differ so.

Find Duplicate Individuals

My 2 hour run has come down to 15 minutes. In an earlier post you mention that the output will only be for the top 12 matches. I can see a potential problem, especially in a large, maybe ONS, ged, in that after a few runs with corrections, the 12 untrue matches may constantly score higher than true ...

I did go into the plugin later and hack it to remove the soundex statements. From the rate it was going, before I stopped it, I estimated that it would take 20 minutes to complete. Out of interest, what is the image? Is it a media file (something like photo.jpg or photo.gif) that you've saved such as a photograph of a page of baptisms?
