Creating Reports via FH Generated rtf Files
In order to get my reports formatted to my liking, it looks like I will be saving my FH generated reports in rtf format and then working on them in Word. Just experimented on an Individual Report to see how this might work in trying to move images around, and, in some cases, enlarging images. Thing...

Query For Average Age Of Death
I don't know if FH can do this, but I am trying to find a way to filter my data to list the age of death for all male members of the Ward family.
I read through the Query Help topics but was not able to formulate a way to do this.
Is such a search possible in FH?

Unwanted Source Number Attached To Individual Name
That was the problem, Jane. Somehow the marriage document source got attached to the 'whole record'. Don't know how I did that, although I am still on the learning curve for FH, so I probably did it without knowing what I was doing.
Thanks for the tip.

Unwanted Source Number Attached To Individual Name
When generating a standard FH report, I am getting a source number attached to the individual's name. The unwanted source number refers to a marriage citation.
I do not understand why this source number is getting attached to the individual's name.
Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Importing PDF Files
I think I may have found an answer from a post by Mike Tate, as follows: 'FH does support virtually all file formats, including PDF and RTF and TIF. However, it does differentiate between image file formats such as JPG, PNG, GIF, and TIF and textual/audio/video file formats such as PDF, RTF, DOC, TX...

Importing PDF Files
Is there an issue with FH being able to display imported PDF files as multimedia files. I have imported 2 PDF files and attached them as individual multimedia records. All I see in the multimedia window is the PDF symbol. The PDF files do not display in any of the standard report formats. The only...

Multimedia, View Family vs Individual
Jane, Lorna, - thanks for the suggestions. What I was hoping to accomplish was to find a way that would list all attached multimedia in the Property Box, under the Multimedia tab for an individual, with some kind of color coding that would distinguish the Individually linked media files from the Fam...

Multimedia, View Family vs Individual
I have some multimedia data attached as 'family' items and others attached as 'individual' items. When I am viewing the 'Individual Property Box' and select the Multimedia tab, I would like to have it also list all the 'family' multimedia files that are attached to that individual as well. Is this ...

Entering Biographies
Mike, My situation is the same as what you reported, i.e., only the birth of my 2 daughters are listed after my undated biography which was set to 'Normal Time Frame', 'Post Death'. There is probably a bug there that is causing the 'Post Death' bio to not be at the bottom of the Fact stack for livin...

Entering Biographies
Mike, I did try the 'Post Death' option under 'Normal Time Frame'. That option did continue to keep the bio output at the end of the Event/Attribute list on reports for both deceased & living individuals. However, for living people (i.e., no posted death date), the 'Biography' Fact was no longer l...

Location of Notes in Family Group Sheet
Mike, I will have to play around with the sentence templates for the Narrative Reports and see what I can do. If I do make sentence template chages then it will require some very standardised text entries to make sure that everyone's Narrative report reads grammatically correct. I did a little bit o...

Spacing Between Event/Attribute Lines In Reports
I would like to add a little more space between the various events and attibutes that get listed in the various report templates. At present, they are not set off from each other sufficiently (for my personal taste) to easily distinguish each one at a casual glance. I have played around with the Fo...

Entering Biographies
After a lot of experimenting, I have decided to use the following procedure to enter biographical/life stories text. I created a new Fact attibute and labeled it 'Biography'. I set the 'Template' to {note}, 'Normal Time Frame' to 'None', and 'Under Fields Required', I checked the 'Date' & 'Note' but...

Location of Notes in Family Group Sheet
The sentence structure in the Narrative Report had some grammar problems. Probably due to the format of the text that I had entered in the Facts input boxes for Death & Burial. I had provided a fairly lengthy discussion on the cause of death and hospitalization stay. It was grammatically correct ...

Mike, I am not quite sure what you meant by the following statememt: they will also appear against the Children in the Family Group Sheet when those Children have those Facts I did check the layout using the Individual Narrative template, and, you are right, I don't like the way it put sentences tog...

Location of Notes in Family Group Sheet
For what I am trying to do, the solution I arrived at was to change parent's Notes to Facts, with appropriate Fact dates to get them to sequence properly. In some cases I had to create new 'Fact' categoies to do this, but given the flexibility of FH, this was not a problem. I used the Notes box und...

Location of Notes in Family Group Sheet
Thanks for the response Mike. I have been doing some experimenting with adding Notes under the Facts tab. Have not quite got what I want yet. The font in the Notes under Facts are smaller than the standard text. I know fonts can be adjusted, but I am not sure what format category will control the...

Location of Notes in Family Group Sheet
Thank you Jane. That did work, i.e., Notes for the parents now display in each parent's section. But, I found that it also caused long biographies (that I had written as Notes) to appear for each child. What I was hoping to do is have the Notes appear for the parents, but not the children. Can Note...

I am experimenting with the Family Group Sheet option. I notice that the Notes for each individual appear at the end of the report. Text Formatting?
So far I have not been able to find a way to format text (bold, italics, font size, etc.) when entering Notes for individuals. I checked the Plug-Ins page and did not see any utilities that addressed text formatting. So is general text formatting not an available feature in FH when entering Notes? H...

Children's Marriage Date, Family Group Sheet
I have been experimenting with some of the publication formats. I created a Family Group Sheet for my father & mother. The resulting document lists the marraige date for my mom & dad, but for their children it only shows their spouse's name and birth date. I have not been able to find any way to g...

Marriage Info Row In Focus Window
Since the place is shown in the Property box, I am surprised that there is no way to link it to the marraige row in the Focus window. I thought it would just be a simple matter of adding another field to the algorithm that generates the text in the marraige row. Some of the other genealogy programs...
