Scaling vs Zoom In PDF Printing
I am getting ready to publish a book from my FH database. I will be creating a FH PDF file to send to the print shop. I am going to have the book printed on 9"x12" paper. I can set this paper size under the Custom Page Size option in FH. I am a little confused on the "Graphic Scale" option versus th...

PDF Print Settings For Diagrams
I am trying to print large ancestor diagrams to a pdf file. I want to force the file to print to a single page so that I can send it to a commercial print shop. I have been experimenting with the "Family Historian PDF" vs the "Adobe PDF" options. For both options, I have selected the "Adjust PDF Fil...

Peter,
That approach seems to work in V5 as well! Thank you so much for the tip, much appreciated.

Select Individual Summary Reports For 1 Tree Branch
I am trying to find a way to generate a series of Individual Summary Reports for specific branches of my family tree, without having to manually identify every person who is on that branch. For example, I would like to go to my paternal grandfather, William Ward, and tell FH to generate Individual S...

Re: Multimedia not appearing in report
Bob , when considering your Report options did you try Narrative Reports ? If so, why do you still prefer Individual Summary Reports ? Yes, I did experiment with the Narrative report option. But, it uses the FH sentence templates, which I do not like due to all the awkward grammar that it automatic...

Re: Multimedia not appearing in report
Sorry, Bob , my mistake. I assumed you were proposing a biographical story-line report style that Gogargirl was discussing. The ISR with all the normal Facts, is nothing like a story-line book. Without actually seeing an example of what she is trying to achieve, I could be mis-interpreting the form...

Re: Diagrams (All Relatives)
For my family tree book, I just sent the tree chart pdf file out to a commercial print shop and had it printed on 48" wide roll paper. I then just folded that large print up and stuck it in a packet at the back of my book. When people read the book, they can pull out the tree chart, unfold it and lo...

Re: Multimedia not appearing in report
Posted by tatewise: "I suspect what Bob forgot to say is that his Individual Summary Report has customised Options that exclude almost everything except his Biography Fact so it only includes the bigraphical notes." No, I don't have any options selected that exclude anything, at least not to my know...

Re: Multimedia not appearing in report
I use the Individual Summary Report (ISR) format. I am going down the same path as you with my intent to tell a story about each family member. First of all, all of my media gets imported to FH in JPEG format. When required, I even convert Excel and Word docs to JPEG so that I can bring them into my...

Re: Is The New v6 Map Feature Animated
Thanks Bill. I think that does answer my question. I was hoping to find software that would show directional arrows moving across the globe, in sequence with time frames associated with the dates that all my UK & European ancestors came to the U.S. I will have to do some research to see if anyone ma...

Re: Is The New v6 Map Feature Animated
Jane, Does the time slider feature actually show directional arrows moving across a map? Or, does it just show red dots, or some sort of symbols, popping up at point locations, as time passes?

Is The New v6 Map Feature Animated
I am looking for an animated mapping feature that would show arrows moving across a global map, synced in time, that would show migration patterns of all ancestors in my database.
Is this possible with the new mapping feature in Version 6?

Re: Text Formatting In FH6?
A problem that I notice in creating a FH RTF file is that it really messes up page breaks and photo locations/sizes on the various pages when I open the file in WORD. Creates a ton of work to fix everything. It would just be so much easier to do all the formatting in FH and generate a finished repor...

I would like to change the project name that is listed in the Family Historian Projects box. Is there any easy way to do this without corrupting my database and losing links to all my media files?

Re: Text Formatting In FH6?
Mike, I don't use templates. All the text I am trying to format is text that I create for the multitude of biographies & notes that I have written for each person. My book will be published as a series of Individual Summary Reports for each person in my database. I looked at some of the other automa...

Re: Text Formatting In FH6?
Mezentia - I sympathize with what you are saying. My objective in doing all this genealogy research and saving all the information into an organized database was to produce a written book for all my family members, present and future. The data & media organization in FH is great, but it is going to ...

Re: Text Formatting In FH6?
I need text formatting for all the notes and biographies that I have written for individuals. As it stands now, I will have to export my database into WORD and go though 1500 people to set all the bold, italics, font changes, color, etc. that I want for each profile. It would have been so much easie...

Text Formatting In FH6?
I was really hoping that the new release would support text formatting like WORD. In reading the release notes, I do not see any mention of text formatting. Did I miss something, or, is text formatting still going to require exporting my database to an RTF file in WORD?

Formatting Source Citations
I have my "Location of Source Citations" set as "At end of record on a new page". On the Sources page, I don't like the formatting that excludes any space between each citation. Is there any way to edit this formatting so that I can have at least 1 space after each citation so that they do not look ...

Generating Individual Summary Reports For Specific Lineage
I have my family tree put together for the complete lineage for both my mother and father's sides of my family. I have some cousins on my father's side of the family that would like a pdf genealogy report for just my father's lineage, i.e. they are not blood-related to my mother. Is there any way th...

Re: Insert Page Breaks?
Thanks for the tips, Mike. Yes, I was having that problem when the last page of the record ended with "pictures" to the right of the text. I will experiment with the other picture location options to see if they might work better for my use. I am surprised to see there is no option for "In Rows Belo...
