Viewing Notes Added via Place List
I added a Note via Tools>Work With Data> Places . When the Place list showed up, I selected one of the listed Places and selected "Edit". I then added a note in the Note box that appeared for that Place. My problem is that I cannot figure out how to get that Note to appear for that Place in my Indiv...

Sounds interesting, Bill. I may download the plug-in and experiment. Thanks for the info.

Re: Display Latitude/Longitude In Property Box
Well, as I have been using the Map window this morning, and getting more educated about it, I am finding that it works quite well for what I am trying to do. I am just working my way from the top to the bottom and seeing where each Place plots. If it is wrong, I can easily make corrections. Plus, th...

Re: Display Latitude/Longitude In Property Box
Thanks for all the replies. I just thought the lat/long data would be more convenient to view & edit if it was in its own box under the Place box on the Fact tab for each individual. Being a new V6 user, I noticed that the first time that I used the new Map tool, I was getting several markers that w...

Re: Display Latitude/Longitude In Property Box
Thanks Bill. First time I have seen another "Yank" on this board. Would like to see FH get a bigger following on this side of the pond.

Display Latitude/Longitude In Property Box
Just upgraded to V6. Is there any way to get the latitude & longitude to display within the Property box for each Place entry?
For example, I would like to see a "Lat/Long" box immediately after the "Place" box.

Re: Location of Source Citations not working in V6
Mike, when I tried File > Import/Export > Export > Report Type for the Report in question, once I got to the box "Select for Export", I found that box to be empty, i.e., there was no report type to select.

Re: Location of Source Citations not working in V6
Well, here is what I did. 1. Uninstalled FH Ver5 from my laptop - the uninstall was successful. 2. Performed a successful download and installation of the trial version of FH Ver6 to my laptop. 3. Retrieved my external hard drive, which has a current Full backup from FH Ver 5.0.11 from my desktop co...

Location of Source Citations not working in V6
I am trying the trial version of FH Version 6. I cannot get the "Location of Source Citations" to work. On Version 5, I have this option set to "At end of record on a new page". When I select this same option for the V6 trial, it insists on displaying each Source Citation on a separate page, usually...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
What is odd is that the problem seems to be limited to only Source images. All the pictures that are attached to Individuals, Spouses, Families continue to be visible when the pdf conversion is made, i.e., just the Source images disappear after about 140 pages into the report. BTW, a suggestion was ...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
Mike, yes, I mean "Uninstall". No, the 2 computers are not synced. I never do FH work on the laptop. BTW, I just tried Jane's suggestion of converting smaller sections of the overall report to pdf, and, then merging those back together. For the first segment, I converted pages 1 through 140 - all im...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
The missing images seem to always start appearing around pages 140 to 150 out of 3,220, i.e., the first 150 pages or so have everything intact, then beyond that the Source images disappear. FYI, I have my FH Source>Picture settings selected to print all these images at a max height of 8" and a max w...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
I tried Adobe Acrobat Professional and it dropped more images than the FH "novaPDF 7 Printer Driver" did. Surely there are lots of people using Version 5.0.11 that have tried converting large (2,000 to 3,500 pages) FH reports to a pdf format. I would like to hear from those folks to see if any of th...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
Adrian, I use the "novaPDF 7 Printer Driver" that is automatically installed with Family Historian, Ver 5. For those of you that are using FH Ver 6, is that the same printer driver that installs with Ver 6? Yes, this does seem like it would be caused an error in the PDF conversion process, since all...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
Calico Pie's response to my reported problem with the disappearing images in the conversion to a pdf file is as follows: We did hear about a problem similar to the one you have reported, but we thought that we'd fixed it in 5.0.10. Are you quite sure you're on 5.0.11? You can check this on "About Fa...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
I did report the problem to Calico Pie 2 days ago. Have not received any response yet. I will report back when I hear from them. As an experiment, I tried just saving (to pdf) pages 1 to 1000 from my 3220 page book that was open in FH. Hoping that the smaller file size might cure the problem. No luc...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
Mike, I read that link and it sounds pretty much the same as the problem I am experiencing. In my case, the missing images are also those attached as Source documents. There is no "thumbnail" image on the blank pages, i.e., the page is just blank except for the Source note that appears below the mis...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
I tried the Book option. It was created within FH with all images intact. Total book size was 3002 pages. As before, the problem occurs when I save the file to a pdf format, i.e., the saved pdf file (for the Book) was missing 30 to 40% of my images. The problem appears to be some type of a failure i...

Re: FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
Thanks for the suggestions, Jane. I do want to maintain an "Index" for the report, which is currently generated by the FH pdf option. If I add multiple, smaller pdf files to the Book option, how is an Index going to be generated? The same problem (no Index) would seem occur if I were to incrementall...

FH PDF Not Displaying All JPEG Images
I have created a FH pdf file using the Individual Summary Report option for all people in my database. Upon opening the pdf file (over 3,000 pages), I notice that around 30% of the JPEG images in my database do not display, i.e., I just see a blank page where those images should appear. When I gener...

Re: Scaling vs Zoom In PDF Printing
As I mentioned above, I am convinced that the Zoom setting is the same as looking at the original page image through a magnifying glass. The aspect ratio of the image remains intact, there is no distortion to pictures or text fonts. The image just appears larger. Simultaneously with increasing the Z...

Re: Scaling vs Zoom In PDF Printing
I must admit I would have thought that the text would have been OK (in Book Settings / Page Layout, isn't it?) apart from the font size. The margins, headers, etc, don't change so I would have thought the text would expand into the larger paper. Altering the font sizes might be a long job... When u...

Re: Scaling vs Zoom In PDF Printing
Upon further experimentation, the Zoom setting seems to simply act like the Zoom ring on a camera. In other words, it just makes the entire image look bigger. Everything is enlarged to maintain proportionality, i.e., the horizontal/vertical aspect ratio seems to remain intact upon zooming. I see no ...

Re: Scaling vs Zoom In PDF Printing
I think if I was doing this I would use Print Setup... on FH's File menu to set the Paper Size to ARCH A (9 in x 12 in). Then you can see in FH what each page should look like when printed. For charts you can adjust the Scale (not the zoom) and optimize Position on Page . For report text you could ...
