Re: Orienting certificate images
I have always used Photoshop Elements to rotate any images that need rotating for proper display in FH. I have about 3,600 images in my FH project media folder, most of which have been run through Photoshop Elements for one reason or another, including rotating. These images come from digital camera...

Agree completely. I also use Ancestry as a research tool, but all the collected research data goes directly into my FH project.Peter_H_Williams wrote: ↑21 Jun 2020 16:43Family Historian IMO will always beat a web based commercial store for the research I collect.

Re: Back up
I assume that you are referring to backing up a V6 FH Project, as opposed to the actual V6 program software. Go to File>Backup/Restore and select the desired backup option. Picture is attached for the Full Backup option, which is what I always do. That insures that all my images will get backed up a...

Re: Lost Project
Do we know that the OP actually created an FH Project, or, just worked on a GEDCOM file?
I have never tried this, but can you do a Full FH Backup on a GEDCOM file without being prompted for a "Project" file name?

Re: PDF Print Defaulting to Microsoft Edge
You may be right, an automatic WIN10 update happened on my computer a few days ago. That may have reset Microsoft Edge as the default pdf program. They should not be doing those kind of resets without user approval. Yes, I went through the steps to get Adobe reset as my default pdf program. Thanks.

PDF Print Defaulting to Microsoft Edge
I have not knowingly changed anything in my settings when printing pedigree diagrams using the FH PDF Printer. However, everytime that I now attempt to print a pedigree diagram, using the FH PDF Printer, the printed diagram opens up in Microsoft Edge. I cannot find any settings where I have selected...

Re: Note field Citations disallowed in 5.5.1
I am still a little confused as well.
Just to clarify, are we talking about impacts to Note boxes for Facts, or, Note boxes for Citations? Sounds like it only impacts Citation Note boxes, but I would like to know for sure.
I have attached a screenshot showing the 2 boxes in question.

Check for Unlinked Relatives or Individuals
I am trying to find a way to check my database to see if there are any people there who may have been inadvertantly, or intentionally, unlinked from my family tree, i.e., I am looking for any "orphans". I thought there was a Plug-In to do this, but I was unable to find one. Is there an easy way to i...

Re: Citation Listing Question
You are right! Thanks for the tip.My guess is that there are two Source records with the same Title but different Record Id.
One has Citations and the other does not.

Citation Listing Question
Based on a recent post by another forum member, I decided to check my Citation record summary for any possible errors. So, I selected the Source Records tab in the Records window. I found a Citation for a birth certificate for Joan Carol Hugg that listed "0" under the Citations column. This puzzles ...

I put all my Place details in the Note box on the PLACE record. This includes a complete history of the Place, some of which are quite lengthy.

Re: Zoom Factor When Opening Report
Yes, it always opens at Page Width . I am trying to find a way to adjust a setting so that it will always open at Whole Page . However, there does not appear to be a setting to do that, i.e., there is no way to over-ride the Page Width setting for the initial opening of the report window. And yes, I...

Zoom Factor When Opening Report
This issue has been annoying me for a long time and I have not been able to find a setting to correct it. When I open any version of a report under the Publish menu, the selected report always opens at a zoom factor of 327%. Then I have to manually zoom out or select one of the zoom settings in the ...

Re: Mapping places from new, large TMG project
I realize that may not be an efficient option for the OP. I threw that out as an option for those who may be starting new projects, or, for someone who may want to spend the time to update an existing database. If you adopt that approach from the beginning, its only a few minutes for each new Place ...

Re: Mapping places from new, large TMG project
Just to throw out a different workflow that avoids issues with auto geo-coding. I manually geo-code all my Places. In most cases, I simply type in the name of the Place in Wikipedia and copy the listed coordinates into the Lat/Long box in the Place box in FH. While I have the "Place" open in Wikiped...

Re: Splitting Tree & Deleting people
Mike's recommendation on not splitting your tree is sound advice. As he said, splitting your tree is going to create management headaches down the road. Plus, you lose all the potential ancestral relationships between your's and your wife's sides (or different grandparents sides) of the family. For ...

Thanks for the detailed information Mike. However, I am not sure what you are saying that I should be seeing in the Tools>Preferences>Diagram box.
Here is a snip of my Diagram Preferences. Is there something amiss here?

Re: Lost Custom Diagram Settings
I am not aware of having multiple Win10 User Accounts. So, no, I wasn’t knowingly using another Win10 account. I was only using the diagram icons on the Tool bar, which is what I was using prior to the loss of my custom diagram settings. It is odd that all my custom settings for my ISR reports remai...

Re: Lost Custom Diagram Settings
Yes, every diagram type I have tried has been changed from what I was seeing a day ago.
I have not experimented with any new custom settings since moving FH to the new computer.
No saved charts. Looks like I will just have to re-do all my diagram settings.

Lost Custom Diagram Settings
Per my recent posts, I moved to a new Windows 10 computer a few weeks ago. I successfully installed FH on the new machine, along with my custom settings. Everything has been working fine until this morning. I opened FH and selected the "All Relatives" diagram icon to produce a family diagram for an ...

Everything seems to have come across intact. I have the same stats on the Restored project as was on the old WIN7 machine.

Got it! Thanks for the explanation. Don't know why I did it that way to begin with, must the mental frustration of getting everything transferred to the new computer.
