Re: Restore Family Historian Settings
This is the first time that I have run the Plugin to restore FH settings, although I have run it multiple times to backup FH settings. Immediately before migrating my FH project file to my laptop, I ran a FH Full Backup on my desktop, which was saved to an external drive. Once the FH backup was done...

Restore Family Historian Settings
Using Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings, Ver. 2.8 I restored my project file from my desktop computer to my laptop this afternoon. The project restore went fine. I then tried to restore my Family Historian settings using the above Plugin. Tried this 3 time with no success, i.e., some Cust...

Re: Splitting Family Tree & Excluding Spouse's Media & Place Records
Rick, Many thanks - that was it. Mike, yes, I did untick that box. I did that under the assumption that there might be some unconnected records on my wife's side of the family that I would want to catch. However, I did not realize that it would bring in all the unconnected records on my side as well...

Splitting Family Tree & Excluding Spouse's Media & Place Records
This is a question that relates to this previous thread. https://www.fhug.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=13549 (Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family) However, I am starting a new topic to preclude getting lost in all the responses to the previous thread. I have successfully split m...

Re: Middle Names
So, you are saying that the Given , Surname , and Suffix fields were not generated by FH. Then this ties back to my thread about UDFs last week, where we surmised that the UDFs were created by my original import of a gedcom file from WikiTree to FH. Therefore, those 3 fields listed above must have b...

Middle Names
I am not understanding how FH handles "middle names" in it's database. I have attached a screenshot of the Property Box for my grandfather. Even though I have included his middle name on the Name row, his middle name does not display in the subsequent boxes, i.e., all we see are the Given name, Surn...

Re: "Ancestors by Generation" - NOT in narrative form?
Craig, Unfortunately, I have never played around with the 'Descendants by Generation' report format. My family tree book (that I hope to publish before year-end and send to all my relatives) is simply a compilation of all the ISRs for everyone in my database. It will include an Index that can be use...

Re: "Ancestors by Generation" - NOT in narrative form?
I've been using this software since 2009, and why Simon Orde has never thought to produce a function that simply outputs facts in bullet point form has always mystified me. I am probably misinterpreting what you are referring to with the above statement, but doesn't the ISR format produce that type...

Re: delete individuals
Thanks for the response, but having deleted them from the focus window, they still appear on the individual record list! How do I remove them completely? Thanks for any help. You might close FH and re-open it. Maybe it needs a "refresh" to not display the individuals that you deleted. If you follow...

Re: delete individuals
Highlight the individual in the Focus window, right-click and select Delete Record . You can also open the Records Window (the little drum/disk icon on the left side of the screen), select the Individual Records tab, highlight the Individuals that you want deleted, and simply hit the Delete key.

Re: Uncategorised Data Fields
Thanks for the re-assurance regarding my interpretation of what happens should I delete the UDFs. In my case, it sounds like they are just some unnecessary "clutter/debris" left over from my WikiTree gedcom import to FH several years ago. And, yes, I always backup on at least a daily basis, sometime...

Re: Uncategorised Data Fields
By "names", I was referring to whether the name in the Property Box would be deleted, if I were to delete the UDF name tags. From your response, it sounds like the Property Box name will not be deleted or changed in any way. For example, that full name, e.g., "Robert Lee Ward" will still be fully in...

Re: Uncategorised Data Fields
Yes, I did open the Knowledge Base file and read most of it, but it started getting a little beyond my technical ability to fully understand what was going on, i.e., I did not make the connection that you referred to about the Data Ref Gedcom Tags being the problem. Now that you have focused my atte...

Re: Uncategorised Data Fields
Upon more detailed examination of the UDF list, I see that not only are WikiTree ID numbers being flagged as a UDF, but portions of the names of people are also getting listed as a UDF. I have attached a screenshot of just a small sample of the UDF result set. You can see that my middle name "Lee" i...

Uncategorised Data Fields
I just ran the "UDF list" Plug-In to see what results would be displayed. I was surprised to see that the results listed 275 individual records with UDFs. I explored a couple of these records to see where a UDF might have been created. I noticed in every case that the listed records had several "Cus...

Thanks for the updated Plug-In, Jane.

Thumbs.db File in Check for Unlinked Media
I just ran the "Check for unlinked media" Plug-In. In addition to a few pictures that I had not yet linked to FH, the results also listed a "Thumbs.db" file. I do not see this file in my FH Media directory anywhere. Is it an FH hidden file that is not supposed to be deleted?

Re: Individual Summary Report ~ Fact Media
Just another possibility to consider. I always attach my FACT images as Source documents and have my ISR settings configured to display each Source image on an individual page in the Sources section at the end of the report. I set the image size to 8x7, so that each image consumes as much of the ent...

I may be missing what you are trying to do with these dates. However, if you are trying to date a Fact, why couldn't you use the Date>Range>Between option that is available in the Date box?

All Relatives Diagram Icon, # of Generations
I am trying to do an "All Relatives" diagram and have all the generations display when I click the "All Relatives Diagram" icon on the tools bar at the top of the FH window. At the present, when I click this icon, I only get about 4 or 5 generations back from the root person. I then have to manually...

You could also add a date to the "Estate Probated" fact. As long as this date is later than the Burial event, then it will appear after the Burial event.

Re: Anecdotes/biographical information
ctb, As ColeValleyGirl notes, you have several options for formatting your pictures in the ISR format. I have also configured my ISR output so that any images attached to Source documents display in a "full page" mode so that the image is big enough to read any text that may be part of the image. Ag...
