Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
Just created a new 60"x128" page using the Properties > Custom option instead of the Predefined Custom template that I created yesterday. Went back to the Diagram and turned on Show Page Boundaries and the page size displayed correctly, also confirmed by Diagram Statistics . So, perhaps there is jus...

Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
I just moved from my laptop over to my desktop and the exact problem still persists, i.e., I create the Predefined Custom paper size in the FH Printer Properties box (60"x129") and then go back to my Diagram and select Show Page Boundaries and get all the 8.5"x11" size pages scattered across the Dia...

Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
I don't either. Seems simple, but . . .?
I'll keep poking around to see what I can discover.
Thanks for your time.

Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
I must be missing something Mike. After opening my diagram, I went to File > Print Setup > Properties and that Predefined Custom setting was indeed selected. So, I click OK to exit the Print Setup boxes. After all this, the diagram still shows several hundred 8.5"x11" boxes when Show Page Boundaries...

Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
I created my "Custom" page size template in the Predefined box by selecting Manage>New . I then named the new template Custom and set the desired width & height. So, the new "Custom" template is now listed under Predefined . Is that what you assumed that I did? When I select my page layout, I am usi...

Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
Not to drag this topic out any further, but I am confused by an apparent conflict between the page size that I set in the Print Setup box versus what gets printed when I try to use this page size. For example, in the File>Print Setup box I have created a "Custom" page size with Landscape orientation...

Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
Good info, Mike. Yes, it will go to a commercial print shop. We will ask them about re-scaling a full size PDF to fit on their roll paper.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
Well, I did set the page size to 60" x 60" in File>Print Setup>Family Historian>Properties . Went to Diagram and set the scale to 37% . Then Diagram>Save As> PDF File>Use Current Page Layout>OK . Then selected the FH PDF Printer and it insists on printing to 6 pages instead of 3. The only way that I...

Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
With FH PDF selected, it will not let me set a width longer than 129". So, I cannot find a way to bypass that width limitation and set a Custom size at 60"H x 180"W.

Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
I have attached a picture of the All Relatives diagram. With the relative having access to 60" wide roll paper, I would like to have FH print this to 3 vertical panels that are each 60" wide. Under that scenario the printed product would be 60" high and 180" wide. How does one tell FH to print to th...

Re: Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
My confusion is with the original width-height dimensions of 325.72 x 158.91. Why does the program generate those dimensions if it will not allow you to create a print at that size? What do those original dimensions actually mean? I have a relative who wants to have this diagram commercially printed...

Printing Diagrams to Specific Size
I am trying to print a large "All Relatives" diagram to a specific size. With the diagram window open, I select Diagram>Save Diagram As>PDF File . At this point, the "Adjust PDF file size so that Diagram fits onto One Page (if possible)" option is selected. The Diagram Width displays as 325.72" and ...

Re: Changing wording in Facts
I'll just throw out another option for consideration. Don't know if you have experimented with the different report formats that are available in FH. If you want to avoid the grammar problems (and paragraph formatting) often associated with the standard computer templates, you can bypass them altoge...

Re: Children in birth order on Family Tree
I think another option is to use Tools > Re-order Out-of-Sequence Data. Then check the boxes for the desired items to re-order.
You can quickly do your entire database with this option.

Re: Places Associated with a Specific Branch of the Family Tree
Thanks for the suggestion, Mike. That provides a workable solution to get the information that I wanted. Plus, it is nice to see it all on a map to get a quick visual connection to the actual locations. The visual presentation on a map might even be quicker that having to read through a tabulation o...

Places Associated with a Specific Branch of the Family Tree
I am an admitted novice at writing custom queries. Is it possible to write a query that would list all the Place records associated with a specific branch of the family tree? For example, my grandfather was William T. Ward, Sr. I would like to quickly compile a list of the Place records attached to ...

Re: Number of Backup Files Differs From Project Statistics
Yes, it cured itself. I just shut down FH and opened it back up 30 minutes later and was able to perform a normal Full Backup of the new FH Project file. Do not know what I did earlier to make the file paths in my new project have media links back to my master FH project folder. Thought I used all t...

Re: Number of Backup Files Differs From Project Statistics
I started over and created the new sub-tree and then converted that to a new FH project. This seems to have worked this time as there is a new Media folder under the new project folder. None of the Media file names any longer link back to my master FH project folder. Copy of the new Directory struct...

Re: Number of Backup Files Differs From Project Statistics
Yes, I apparently selected something incorrectly when creating the new project, i.e., all the file paths to the media records (for the new sub-tree) were linking back to my master FH project folder. I am reviewing the KB articles again. However, is there a particular step that I need to be careful a...

Re: Number of Backup Files Differs From Project Statistics
There were over 1,600 jpg media "files" in the newly created sub-tree. There were 2,665 jpg media files in the original master file. Aren't these "named" jpg media files counted as individual files during a backup? If so, there are way more than 161 media files to be copied. When I do a Full Backup ...

Re: Number of Backup Files Differs From Project Statistics
Mike, there is still something not right. The zipped backup file was only 246,434 kb. My master family tree project that this was created from has a backup size of 5,681,533 kb. The sub-tree that I split off from my master tree file has 1,148 individuals in it. The original master tree has 2,043 ind...

Number of Backup Files Differs From Project Statistics
I just created a separate family tree for my side of the family, i.e., excludes my wife's side. This new tree was created from my master tree which does include my wife's relatives. I used the ALL Pool Relatives Except Partner Ancestors plugin. Created a new gedcom file from the results and then mad...

Re: Restore Family Historian Settings
Well, I don't know how to explain this, but I just turned on my laptop for the first time today and opened FH in an effort to troubleshoot this "missing facts" problem again. Opened up the Facts list and to my surprise the missing Fact was now listed, whereas it was not listed night when I turned th...
