Some Source Images Not Appearing in ISR

I have run across an odd problem in my Individual Summary Reports . I find an occassional Source image fails to appear in the reports. When I hit the Rebuild Report tab, this will sometimes cause the image to re-appear, and, sometimes not. I also notice that hitting the Rebuild Report tab will somet...

Re: All relatives charts

Derek, I have never bothered to customize the Margin & Zoom box when creating my All Relatives pdf files, i.e., I have no preference on how the final pdf diagram displays when it is opened, other than to make sure it fits on 1 page. I simply rely on my mouse to zoom in and navigate around the diagra...

Re: All relatives charts

As Mike suggested , I too have always used the Single Page PDF option for my All Relatives diagrams. I have nearly 2,500 people in my database, so the diagrams get quite large. Once the diagram has been created, I use the Enable Moving/Resizing tool to decrease the Scale size to a level that will al...

Re: Info on adding addresses, emails, phone numbers

"Email" & "Phone" are in the extended FH Fact Set. For current address, you might consider creating a Custom Fact named "Current Address". I am sure others will be able to suggest more elegant solutions.

Re: Old sketches - What fact

Yes, I create a Source record for that "appropriate" Fact. I then attach the scanned image as a Media record to that Source record.

Re: Old sketches - What fact

I use the same basic approach as Mike Loney suggested, create an appropriate Fact for the Individual, scan the images and attach them as Source media for that Fact. I always include appropriate Text in the Fact Note box to fully describe/discuss the history of the attached media.

Re: Diagram Text Box, Age When Married

Could you post the same Edit Text Scheme Item for the other marriage events please, i.e., the His Age and Her Age definitions. Sure. I assume you are referring to all the various text schemes that include the Marriage event with Ages. For brevity, I will just just show one of the other schemes that...

Re: Diagram Text Box, Age When Married

Here are some pictures showing the issue.

A snapshot from a Diagram showing the listing of age at marriage is sometimes missing.

The Diagram options box showing the custom text scheme that I am using.

And, the Edit Text Scheme box for my custom Marriage event.

Diagram Text Box, Age When Married

I just noticed that the "His age" and "Her age" for the Marriage event in diagram text boxes seems to be randomly displaying only in the wife's text box in some cases and only in the husband's text box in other cases. I would prefer that these ages be displayed in both the husband and wife text boxe...

Re: Back up & Restore V6

Just for clarification, I have always been scared by that Warning message as well, because I do not fully understand the consequences of one option versus the other. As a result, I have always chosen the "Skip Operation" option.

Under what conditions would one select the "Registry Data Keys" option?

I still use FH 6.2. When you add the "Cremated" fact, a box appears which allows you to enter Date, Place, Address, and Note.

Re: Possible corruption of Calico Pie file

Mike, are the " global customisation settings " all saved when simply copying the "C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\ folder" to an external hard drive? If so, are these "global customisation settings" different from "custom" settings that are saved by using the " Backup and Restore Family ...

Re: Possible corruption of Calico Pie file

Mike, Your comment in the previous post " An alternative is to include that C:\ProgramData\Calico Pie\Family Historian\ folder in your regular backup regime. " raises a question for me. What is the difference in saving a copy of the above file path versus just doing the "Full Backup" from FH via Fil...

Re: Add Cause of Death to Pedigree Diagram Boxes

I suspect you need to add the [1+] looping index to the CAUS component.
Yep, that fixed the problem. Lorna had that in her response and I somehow managed to exclude it when I made the edit to my template.

Thanks,
Bob

Re: Add Cause of Death to Pedigree Diagram Boxes

Thanks Lorna. That expression worked, but it lists the cause of death twice. See attached screenshot.

My edited template is: =ExistsText(%INDI.DEAT[1+]%,"Died:") %INDI.DEAT[1+].DATE:COMPACT% in %INDI.DEAT[1+].PLAC:TIDY%. Cause: %INDI.DEAT.CAUS%

Add Cause of Death to Pedigree Diagram Boxes

I am trying to find a way to add the Cause of death item to the pedigree diagram boxes. I don't find Cause of death as an option in any of the Text Schemes under Diagram Options>Text . Even when editing the text schemes, I do not find it as an item to select. However, I can select the Birth, Marr, D...

Re: novaPDF 7 Printer not Working in V6

I rebooted the computer this morning and everything now seems to be back to normal. Had not done a reboot in over a week, just letting the machine go into Sleep mode at night. That must have caused some kind of glitch.

Thanks for the replies.

novaPDF 7 Printer not Working in V6

Never had a problem with the FH pdf printer for all the years that I have had Family Historian . I still run V6. I have not tried to print any FH docs to pdf for over a year. Unfortunately, when I tried to print an ISR today, the file opened in Adobe Acrobat 8.1 and all of the pictures were missing....

Re: FH Descendant Report

Have you explored the Individual Summary Report (ISR) format? It provides a wonderful, dated chronology of all the factual events in a person's life. Plus, you can enhance the story of each Fact by typing your own text in the Note box for each fact. I use this format exclusively for all my genealogy...

Re: Media and addresses / Places

I'm probably missing something here, but if you have 4,000 entries (Place records?) that you have not yet attached images to, aren't you still going to have to invest the time to attach images to those 4,000 entries (Place records?) no matter what genealogy program you might use?

Re: Media and addresses / Places

I use the method that Mike suggested above, i.e., I create a Source record for each Place in my database and then attach media file(s) to that Source record. Then, everytime that I add that Place record to an individual's profile, the Source record and pictures come along automatically. BTW, I inclu...

Yep, the Records window filter is the way to go. The delimiters option with the binoculars icon is also a good tip.

Using "Find Record" Icon

When using the Find Record icon (binoculors), is there a way to trick it into listing a person if you do not use their full name as entered in the Name field in the Property Box ? For example, I have a relative named "Wayne Eugene Howard". I could not remember his middle name, so I just typed "Wayne...
