Good question. Wen you say 'I have attempted to edit various records' you have obviously done this in FH.  When you close FH or save he database it stores all its data in the .GED file.  Did your .GED file change?

Interesting idea but isn't this stretching the requirements for genealogy software a bit?  Rather than use FH as a birthday/appointment manager (do you really  want FH to store “appointments” as “the days progress” for example) can't you use a contact manager or simply create a perpetual calendar in...
