Re: FH7 report paragraph fix - new version v7.0.1.1
Yesterday evening I had an email from Calico Pie.... .... with a link to a new version 7.0.1.1. oddly the installer if you now download from the website is 7.0.1.1, but if you have 7.0.0 installed, selecting "check for updates" suggests that 7.0.0 is the latest version. I wonder if the 7.0.1.1 is n...

Custom ID's - any way to enter on-mass?
Hi I'd like to take advantage of the custom id feature for my individuals records. Rather than going into the property box of each person, is there any way to load them all onto screen in one and edit from in there? The most logical place would be the individuals tab per screenshot below, however I ...

Re: Address field in Individual Main Property Box
Thank you for the plug, Helen. The Export Gedcom File plugin now has an export mode specifically for FH V6 and retains as much FH V7 detail as possible in fully compatible FH V6 GEDCOM and Media files. It is better than the Export > GEDCOM File... command which retains some GEDCOM 5.5.1 data that F...

Re: Address field in Individual Main Property Box
Don't ever open your gedcom file in FH 6 once it is used in FH 7. Hi Bill yes was aware the gedcom versions had changed. My thought was to use the gedcom export function as below Gedcom Export.JPG I have some family members who will remain v6 for a while, but I'm keen to use the v7 features as soon...

Re: Address field in Individual Main Property Box
I think most users do use both places and addresses although some put everything in one of these fields or another. Personally, I use both. It is really up to you which you want to do, but be consistent. Thanks again Bill I'm aware my current project file (v6.2.7) is inconsistent in many areas, pla...

Address field in Individual Main Property Box
The main property box for an individual allows you to enter a PLACE record against Birth and Death entries, but as far as I can see, you then need to move onto the FACTS tab to enter ADDRESS. I've looked at the options for customising the property box, but cannot see where or how i can add address o...

Re: Using Dropbox or similar to use on two PC's
thanks Mike hope you had a good day yesterday? I had considered the plugin, but the chances of remembering if I'd made any changes that would affect the ProgramData folder are not good :) Hadn't thought about the Linked folders option, but that sounds great! Will have a play over the weekend and let...

V6 Backup long pathnames
/*** Caveat - not thinking this is a problem with the 12034|V6 Backup very large files specific instance, but worth mentioning with backups as a topic as I believe represents good working practice ***/ I have also found file path length can have an adverse effect on backups in the past. Re: S&N offer via ebay - Full version v6
Anyone contemplating buying this should check out thegenealogist website and what is included in the free subscription. The ebay advert picture suggests its 3 months Gold Subscription (its not specified in the text) which is the second level down and doesn't include a number of data sets. Again, as...

Re: Export from FH v5.0.9 with Image to import to RootsMagic
Hi Thank you both for your help. I've certainly learned something about GEDCOM tags, I had erroneously thought all programs would treat things the same. In terms of the CD directly from FH, unfortunately its not quite what I'm looking for as its not interface driven, its more like a website on a cd....

Export from FH v5.0.9 with Image to import to RootsMagic v4

I've tried importing the GEDCOM from within the project, exporting with both relative and absolute links, and exporting to an embedded GEDCOM. All times have failed (a...

Wow!
thank you ALL very much for taking time to reply and research via your own methods.
I had been worried the more experienced members may have seen this as too basic, but I am genuinely humbled by the time and effort you have all taken to help me.
extremely grateful
