Re: Citing Sources: Method 1 and Method 2 - comparison table tweaks
A source is the “Source_Record” (a GEDCOM term) plus the “Source_Citation” (a GEDCOM term) but referred to by FH as a “citation”. 2) The storage of the Information about the Physical Source. (Source_Originator, Source_Descriptive_Title, Source_Publication_Facts, Text_From_Source, Source_Repository_...

Re: Citing Sources: Method 1 and Method 2 - comparison table tweaks
A source is the “Source_Record” (a GEDCOM term) plus the “Source_Citation” (a GEDCOM term) but referred to by FH as a “citation”. I'm not sure this is correct. I thought the source was the book, magazine, web page, census page, etc. that contains the info to create the fact and the citation was jus...

Re: How many sources have you created with Ancestral Sources?
I would guestimate that about 1200 - 1500 of my sources are from using AS.
Bill
Edit: That is from a total of 3300 sources.

I also find this a bit bothersome and would love a way to delay or even disable the pop-ups.

I also think the subforums are a bit hidden at this point. Just thinking out of the box a bit... what if the General Usage forum was renamed as the Family Historian Usage forum and the General Usage forum were moved to be the first subforum in the Family Historian Usage forum and all postings in the...

Take a look at the plugin Rearrange Address and Place Parts. It might do what you want.

Re: Map Life Facts plugin with Bing Maps support
Mike,
This version fixes the problems I was seeing with Leaflet Maps. The +/- controls appear corrrectly no matter what size I make the window including maximized.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Map Life Facts plugin with Bing Maps support
Mike, If I use Leaflet maps and maximize the window to full screen then I get similar results. Only the right side of the +/- boxes show. The + and - symbols are completely missing. My monitor is set to 1920X1080. Scaling is set to 100%. image1.jpg If I don't maximize the window and make it as small...

Re: What is an objective definition of "Splitting"?
I have to agree with NIck on this. None of those fields are required as shown in the last post from NIck. The quote you gave says "It is generally best if the source citation contains only information specific to the fact being cited ". I would interpret this to mean that is is best if the source ci...

Re: Map Life Facts plugin with Bing Maps support
When I Google searched the Script error on Line: 0 Char: 0 the popular reason was poor web access. It seems you may be onto something. Is there anyone local or a computer shop that might be able to investigate? Perhaps it is a WiFi problem if you use that, or a network adapter fault, or router faul...

Re: Is it time to split the General Forum?
Lorna,
This sounds good, but how long do you wait before posting in the general forum rather than the importing forum? My guess is that the majority of FH users used a different program before FH (although this could be incorrect). I used Reunion before FH.

Re: Is it time to split the General Forum?
My usage is similar to NIck's in some ways. I too only use the focus window, never diagrams (I removed them from the toolbar). I don't use templates. I don't use rich text except for census grids. I don't write plugins. I don't use witnesses. I don't use Internet Data Matches. I think that FH can be...

Re: Proposed Changes to the Forums
I believe the topic retains the same topic number (the p=137090 part of the url for this post) but the forum number will change (the f=48 part). You don't actually need the forum number as I think topic numbers are unique (try it) but a bookmark will usually include it and so stop working when the ...

Helen,
If I bookmark a thread and then it is moved to another forum or subform does the bookmatk change to this new location?
This is not a problem, I am just curious.
Thanks,

Re: Proposed Changes to the Forums
I think we should keep bug reports and beta testing together, as one often leads to the other. But they are not always related to beta testing. I've downloaded plugins from the store and then had a problem and had to report them. I would suggest that bug reports should have their own subforum or th...

Re: Proposed Changes to the Forums
I'm not sure I would think of reporting a bug as being a request.
Not sure what a good name would be. Maybe another subforum in addition to Plugin Programming called something like Plugin Support or Plugin Troubleshooting?
