Re: Lincs to the Past

arthurk,

Thanks for the info. I'm not on Facebook so wouldn't have known.

Is this a sign that Lincs to the Past is being incorporated into the Lincolnshire Archives site? They used to be separate.

Re: Lincs to the Past

Mervyn,

Thanks for the reply.

No... it was separate from the archives site. It had digitized copies of some parish records online. As far as I can tell there are no digitized copies online on the archives site.

Lincs to the Past

Has anyone seen any updates on when Lincs to the Past (https://www.lincstothepast.com) will be coming back online? The last I heard was that it was supposed to come back online in early 2022, but it is still not available as far as I can see.

Thanks,
Bill

Re: New Ancestry icon for Notifications

I did have hints turned on at first and did find quite a few things that way. But I upload an updated tree to Ancestry about 3 or 4 times a year and I got tired of having the hints reset each time so that I kept getting bombarded with the same ones over and over again.

Re: New Ancestry icon for Notifications

Oh well... worth a try. I have hints turned off so I don't get any bell icon notifications for hints. I only turned them on for the screen print I posted.

Re: New Ancestry icon for Notifications

Have you tried this? I use Ancestry.com. I don't know if Ancestry.co.uk is the same.

Go to Settings > Trees and scroll down to Hint Notifications.

Then click on the ">" next to "New hint indicator at top of page" and uncheck the options.

Re: Auto Text column widths

OK... it was the word literal that threw me. I was a COBOL programmer for about 10 years back in the 70's. We called Pic X an alphanumeric literal and Pic 9 a number. We never used the term literal with Pic 9 fields (or the word constant).

Re: Auto Text column widths

I dislike literal values (old programmer speaking) in things Hmm. On the other hand, as an old ICL1900 programmer, I did find it 98% absurd to be advised to remove the literal 3 from my software and replace it by N-3 defined as: 01 N-3 Pic 9 value 3. (Good grief - COBOL - after all these years! Won...

Re: Counting Facts per person

I misread your posting. I'm sure it can be added, but I don't really do plugins so can't help. Maybe Mike Tate will see this and indicate what it would take to add the record number.

Re: Counting Facts per person

The plugin is not in the store, it was attached to a forum post. See Fact Count (10147). That is quite awhile ago so the plugin may or may not work correctly in FH 7.

Re: Report Creation Quick Advice. Just yes/no to feasibility.

Welcome to the FHUG. Yes, this can be done if I understand you correctly. You could create a query with the information you desire and the results could then be printed out if desired. Another option would be to add these fields to the Individuals tab of the records window. This can not be printed o...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5.2

I have sent the source text for both problem censuses via email. Thanks Bill. That issue should be fixed now - see new download v7.5.3 in the first post on this thread. Hi Nick, Works great now for those two censuses. I want to thank you for adding the conversion process to AS. I had just under 105...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5.2

Hi Nick, I have run into an odd problem on two of my 1880 USA censuses. The other 75 converted with only minor corrections required. Here is an example. Notice that a lot of data is getting lumped into the first column. I can't figure out why that happened. Also, there are no column headings and the...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5.2

I'll add some extra text to the help guide about this. I assume don't use the 'Hyper-link to individual records' option that underlines each name so when you click on it in FH you are taken to that individual's record. The * column indicates to AS which column it should add the hyperlinks to. As yo...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5.2

OK... no problem. I will go ahead an make the changes to the grid. I have another question. In the help it says " It will attempt to identify a name column (identified by an asterisk * in the column header) and uses this to try to associate each row with the individuals linked to the census source. ...

Nick,

I ran across a problem with this census. There are only two columns, but the headings and data were not converted correctly.

Nick,

Just a little feedback. I've converted about 20 censuses and all have worked flawlessly with no need to adjust anything. Only 1,011 to go. :D

If you haven't already run across it, the Knowledge Base has a lot of good information.

Especially take a look at Key Features for Newcomers.

Re: Fact date warning list - marking "not a problem"

What fact type are you using for the obituary and In Memorium notice? Did you create custom facts for those?

If you did, you can go into Tools > Facts Types, select the fact, click on Edit, and make sure the Normal Time Frame is set to Post-Death. That might eliminate the warnings.

Re: Fact date warning list - marking "not a problem"

Hi Ann, Welcome to the FHUG. There is no way to mark them as not being a problem. I think they are not really problems, but just warnings that there might be a problem. If the actual problem ones are corrected then they will not appear here any longer. Some of the warnings are dependent on the setti...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5.1

NIck, I have tried a few census sources that have commas in the column titles and they are working great now. Thanks for the quick "fix". I did spot another problem. The last character in the last column is getting dropped. If there is any data in that column, the last character in the data is being...

Re: Testing Ancestral Sources v7.5
