Adding items to new tab in property box
Nick Walker said: Not all possible data references are permitted. You cannot use data references for composite items which have no data of their own, and hence cannot be edited. Hi Nick, I saw this, but didn't know what it meant. I wasn't sure if soundex code and record id fell into this category...

Adding items to new tab in property box
I need some help adding some items to a new tab I've created in the property box. I've read through the help, but I'm still lost. One field I'm trying to add is the Soundex code for the individual. I select the Soundex field from the list of data references. It sets the Data Reference field to: INDI...

Add setting to do a backup without any prompts
Just a clarification on this. There would be no prompt to do the backup (it would be automatic) and there would be no prompt for the dataset name (it would use the default or the yymmdd format as selected in the options).

Add setting to do a backup without any prompts
Add a setting so that a backup is done automatically without any prompts whenever FH is closed.

That makes sense. I'll continue to do it manually.
Thanks!

Alternate names
Nick, That will be a nice feature (being able to change the existing primary name). As far as alternate names go, I think choosing the person from AS could still be handled by using the existing primary name. I don't really see a need to be able to choose the individual by an alternate name. I was j...

Alternate names
Nick,
Is there a way to have AS create an alternate name for an existing individual? I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. This is the way I like to handle it if I find a different name in the census than I have as the primary name in FH.
Thanks!

What shall I do next?
Hi Nick,
I would vote for:
1. Birth Certificates
2. Death Certificates
3. Marriage Certificates
Great program, looking forward to the new items whatever you decide to do.
Thanks!

toolbar icon question
Hi Chris and Nick,
Thanks for the replies. I guess I'm still a little confused though. Do I actually have to click on this icon (button) to create the census entries before I click on save?
Thanks!

I was wondering what the icon under the toolbar that looks like a pen drawing on a piece of paper and whose popup description says 'create census entries' does. It is probably described in the help somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
Thanks!

reference numbers
I'm just trying to use AS to enter my first census information and have a question on reference numbers for the US census. What do people use for reference numbers? Is there a standard format to use? Also, I see on each template a field called reference start. In the help I see an example for the...

Title template
I'm new to Ancestral Sources and have a question about the title template.
Is there any way to get the name to be in the format 'Last, First' instead of 'First, Last'?
If not, I'd like to suggest that as a future enhancement.
Thanks!
