Individual Summary Report ~ Fact Media

Is there a way to get media (that is attached to a fact) to be in line with that fact in an Individual Summary Report printout, and not just anywhere on the righthand side of the fact entries ?

Put it down to old age or poor eyesight, but I cannot find the forum archives links in 'v5 usage'. Or have they disappeared ?

Face Link

Jane,
Does that mean that the face link photo would, in effect just be attached to the individual ie and appear at the top of the focus window ?

Face Link

One of the first things I am trying to do, where a person was present at a wedding. I have a group photo and the date, place etc, so I was entering it as a custom fact of 'guest at wedding' and wanted to indicate which guest they were.

Face Link

I have tried all that I can think of, together with various help files but cannot seem to achieve a result.
Is it possible to use the 'face link' facility on a picture that I want to associate with a fact entry ?

Descendant Diagram marriage

I know its going to be a really obvious reason but I can't see why or explain it away, so this months silly question is 'why in a descendant diagram does the info line for a marriage appear sometimes in the male box and sometimes in the female box'.

Event to Attribute change

Jane I have downloaded and installed that plugin onto a practice setup and cannot get the plugin to work directly but found a workaround for that problem by creating a new fact, same name but with 'Attribute' fact type (old one is an event), which is fine, all goes to plan and get to the first recor...

Event to Attribute change

Having imported records from Legacy to FH5, I have another problem whereby some 'facts' have been imported as 'events' and some as 'attributes'. Which isn't a problem in lots of the cases but is in one particular case. In Legacy I had all census individually entered according to their year ie Census...

Ooops, sorry about that, I had read that but hadn't associated one with the other.

Query query

They worked perfectly.

Not that it makes any difference but an odd thing about them (all three) is that in the result set, the numbers are a grey colour as opposed to the black alpha and numerics of the other columns, although they all print black.

Thank you

Query query

Tried using a fact query and it gives me the layout that I wanted, but I cannot get the Record ID into a column. I tried using a function =RecordId() which is halfway there ie gives a column but no number. Also tried   =RecordId(%INDI%)  and   =RecordId(%FACTOWNER%) which FH does not accept as valid...

Yes I am using Individual Query as opposed to Fact Query.
Will enter all info into a Fact Query and try that.

Query query

I have written a query that finds all the facts of the same name for the individuals that have that particular fact. Now some individuals have got more than one entry of that fact which I have catered for by adding [2] etc after the event name etc, eg from %INDI.CENS[1]% to %INDI.CENS[2]% in the exp...

Problem with relinking media after import

That I wouldn't know really, but in my case the initial problem of tranferring arose because I have relettered the Legacy thumbdrive as Z: so I had to install FH5 temporarily on another thumbdrive that obviously had to be a different letter, which I could only put back to Z: afterwards in order to k...

Problem with relinking media after import

I mean that Legacy and FHv5 applications are installed on a USB thumbdrive together with the Data, GEDCOM & media files.
The whole installation is on a thumbdrive so that I can use it on any computer, anywhere.

Problem with relinking media after import

Now this is going to open a whole new can worms.....

I could do as you suggest but the method would not apply to many people as I run my programs, inc FH5, portably on a USB thumbdrive.

What one would need to do using the C: drive (or other hard drives) I do not know.

Problem with relinking media after import

Hi Mike
1) from Legacy 7.5
2) yes (the Legacy item does not exist)
3) I was unaware of this
Your last sentence explains exactly what the problem was, but as I said, I have a working program including media so 'alls well that ends well'.

Many thanks for all you time and patience.

Problem with relinking media after import

Mike, You will have to excuse the naivety of a FH novice, but surely it would have been necessary to import the gedcom first, otherwise I would not have had a project in which to check with 'Work with External File Links'. Otherwise I know that the links would not have been there due to the differen...

Problem with relinking media after import

Mike I had done just that, all my media (including the subfolders) was in a folder, and in the 'root' of that folder I put the gedcom. With the result that none of the media was copied to the project and in the FH5 file the link addresses of the file were still the link addresses from my original fa...

Problem with relinking media after import

Mike Many thanks for the above. Unfortunately I have found that life is never that simple. I started again and followed the idea of putting the gedcom in with the media but that did not work. But I think I have now solved my problem by using the 'work with external files link' and have spent today r...

Problem with relinking media after import

I am having a problem with relinking media. I have just started using v5 and have imported a gedcom file with all my previous data from another progam. Registration Key

I downloaded the trial copy, used it and liked it so have bought a boxed version. Problem is when I put the registration key in it tells me that' the username and key are not compatable ' or words to that effect. It has been suggested that I uninstall the trial version and reinstall the CD version. ...
