Thanks Jane, V4 has just arrived at home, I'm at work so I'll find out soon.

Just a couple of hundred - thats what slows down the CD generation. I'll have to save up the pennies for a new PC - If I can persuade my wife that I need one !!

Now I am worried. I run V3 on an old P2-400 laptop with 128MB of RAM, its all I have. V3 runs OK until I try to generate a CD. This takes up to three hours. If V4 have such an overhead I may not be able upgrade and still have a useable system. Has anyone had experience of using V4 on a low spec PC?

To quote my supplier, My History, 'We have been told by the publishers that this is now in production and we should expect to receive our first delivery of Family Historian by the end of April 2009.'

I use Family Atlas by RootsMagic. It works well for my use of plotting family movements and relationships in a given area.

I've used Ancestry for several years now and although I think that the increase is a bit steep I've decided to renew. Has there been any indication of the cost of the full version versus the upgrade? I hope to buy the full version rather than upgrade to eliminate the hassle of installing the many upgrades I already have - it will be worth a tenner or so more just for that!!

I had this problem - to solve it you need to associate both persons to each other.

Display her record. Click the blank tab next to her spouse and add another record as Unknown (or whatever) Then add the illegitemate child to this spouse.

I'm worried that I may lose my added extras - queries, icons, diagram settings, flags etc. I'll try installing over the top but I think that means installing an older version, then the version 3 update f...

I have been using FH with no problems for a very long time on my laptop. Now when I try to start the program I get an error: 'Error in installation. Please reinstall.' If I do re-install, will I lose all of my settings, directories etc.? Which files do I need to keep? Thanks[frown]

Is it possible?, legal?, advisable? to insert a copyright notice into my Gedcom file, FH CD and printed reports to protect my research if I decide to publish them to a small number of co-respondants (family and others)that have asked for the details [question]

Slightly off track, but where would I start to look for family wills? I had not thought of them as a source of info before.

I have several parish register entries that read (e.g.) William son of William Brown and his wife Eliza late Bowers. This has proved to be her maiden name on most occaisions. I have not yet come across this for burials however I would imagine that it refers to the deceased.
