Could someone tell me where custom diagrams and text schemes are saved.I have just had to format my computer and have had to start them from scratch!![frown]
If I knew where they were I could have saved them!
Thanks in advance.[smile]

Changing Surnames
I tend to give everyone in the family a 'common' surname where there are many variants and put the variants in as other names used. For example I have made the common name BRAZIER which is the one used in the present day and list the variants as BRASIER,BRAISHER,BRAYSHER,BRAZIAR,BRAYZER,BRAYZIER etc,...

I also want to do this .I tried using notes for a place but could not link to any pictures. This would be very useful as a place can be just as important as a person.Just a thought maybe you could make a record of a place instead of a person and keep some of the info like that?[grin]

I find the research fun.Tracking down elusive ancestors, working how to find someone in unlikely places and then getting the right 'hit'.Brilliant!!![grin]

Conventional Wisdom
I enter the christening/baptism date in the correct field and then put that year as an approximation in the born box as sometimes christenings are not always near the birth!

FH closes when using edit
When I try to use the edit button (to unlink etc)I get a message that FH has encountered a problem and has to close.I tried uninstalling/reinstalling but still have the problem.I seem to be able to do everything else but not edit.I am using FH 3.Any ideas?[confused]

Pedigree charts (Version 3 does not fully implemen
I have never actually done this but you could create a record for individuals who do not yet exist maybe just putting male or female so that when you see a diagram the boxes show up and you can fill in details when you get them? Just a thought.[grin]

All ancestors-one page print?
I also have Family Tree by GSP and I did an ancestry chart for my tree and it stretched over 8 sheets (portrait).I also tried it on one page and it was too small to see.I think with any diagram it will depend on how many ancestors etc you have and how much information you want in each box.I still th...

Free BMD searches on Ancestry.com
I have just had an email from Ancestry.com inviting me to search the BMD registers for free. All I had to do was download the enhanced image viewer and I was away.I could view images that I would usually pay for on 1837online.Follow the link below and see for yourself![smile] http://www.ancestry.co.u...

I also have a problems with paper documents etc.I have now scanned most of it onto my computer (and then onto discs) so I do not have to wade through boxes to find stuff.I keep things like Birth Certificates in a ring binder as I get them and give them a reference number. All the images are then link...

moved linked files
I am now wondering if it would be better to embed the photos and other images instead of linking to external files as I constantly move things around.I know this takes more space but if you save FH on cdrom it should not be too bad (I save it on an external hard drive at the moment). How would this ...
