Advice on merging data
This started out on Ancestral sources board under a now infamous post that mucked up your system, but the causes of the problem are really my actions in AS and I have created problems in Family Historian. I have input a husband George (314) and wife Ann (315) on FH and they have 3 children. Somehow,...

Re: Active Forums mis-behaving
I am very sorry - it was me who caused this problem as I was trying to show that select was not a verb but a button in the software. Which characters are safe to use so I don't muck up the system again?
Many thanks, Anne

Re: Marriages - Greyed out <Select> button or parents not sh
Mike - in FH I take it I could 'Add source' and select the Source and add it and then proceed from there - Perhaps deleting the source from the wrong one would be best first before adding - Anne

Re: Marriages - Greyed out <Select> button or parents not sh
Thanks Mike - I have cracked the profile thingy - I was trying to make it complicated! I think I understand what I have done wrongly in FH and AS. I have 3 sisters marrying 2 brothers and the boy's uncle. All the males have the same forenames and surnames and occupations and in the girls names...

Re: Marriages - Greyed out <Select> button or parents not sh
Thanks Mike I need to abandon this entry and go back to FH, I think. There are no parents listed in the box for parents on the RH side. In FH I have tried clicking on a daughter of these parents and while it identifies her husband the chart shows no parents. I know what you mean by link now and some...

Re: Marriages - Greyed out <Select> button or parents not sh
Thanks for getting back so quickly.
I am sorry but I don't know what is meant by "have you linked them to the Bride as Parents?"
I meant I entered a marriage certificate for the brides parents and thought that as it was 'her parents' that would be the 'link' ?
Thanks in advance.
Anne

Marriages - Greyed out <Select> button or parents not shown
Dear all, When entering a marriage in the Parents Tab - I seem to have a problem selecting from the list at the top (select button is greyed out) when I am trying to select a parent for the bride and the system has already selected the grooms parents and displayed their names. I have already entered...

You could try contacting the National Archives of Scotland where these are normally held and usually they are very helpful. If you don't live in Edinburgh, you can phone the Historical Search Room on 0131 535 1334 - they also have an excellent website with good explantions and email contact may be p...

I use Scotlands People quite a lot as so far most of the rellies are Scottish. The TIF files I use the Microsoft Office Document Image Viewer and if sharpening is necessary the MS Office Picture Manager. If, however, you are looking at the OPR's (which went on the site recently) then you get JPG fil...

Free upgrade to Family Historian version 3.1 now available
The relationship column is very useful - I never knew I had so many 'First cousins once removed'! One couple who I understood were related apart from being married to each other I was able to check by unlinking them from their marriage temporarily. It will have many uses. Thank you - that was the ea...
