FTAnalyzer information
Hi folks I note you have a page regarding my Family Tree Analyzer program at fhugdownloads:contents:family_tree_analyzer|> Utility ~ Family Tree Analyzer and I wonder if you would be so kind as to update the information. Firstly FTAnalyzer was written by myself Alexander Bisset it was only hosted on...

Re: Family Tree Analyzer
FTAnalyzer uses five levels of location anything more than 5 levels it puts in the last level. I'm not sure what the GEDCOM of the place & address formats you tried were. Can you explain what the GEDCOM code looked like and what you'd expect the output to be. At first glance and without properly und...

Re: Location box required
A sensible compromise. If only GEDCOMX would actually get off the ground we could stop using an ancient restrictive text format and use one that has been updated for more modern technologies and would better cope with these sorts of mapping requirements and other advances in data handling. As has be...

Re: Residence or Address Fact?
You are of course correct my choice of words for the first sentence was poor. I did put it better later when I said it was like a PLAC tag not a RESI tag thus showing I do understand the meaning. I apologise for the lack of clarity. I should have said fact TAG not fact TYPE as that is what I meant.

Re: Residence or Address Fact?
An address fact is a standard GEDCOM fact type: ADDRESS_STRUCTURE:= n ADDR <ADDRESS_LINE> {1:1} p.41 +1 CONT <ADDRESS_LINE> {0:3} p.41 +1 ADR1 <ADDRESS_LINE1> {0:1} p.41 +1 ADR2 <ADDRESS_LINE2> {0:1} p.41 +1 ADR3 <ADDRESS_LINE3> {0:1} p.41 +1 CITY <ADDRESS_CITY> {0:1} p.41 +1 STAE <ADDRESS_STATE> {0...

Re: Location box required
It may be of use to note that the GEDCOM 5.5.1 standard has added a MAP tag to the PLACE_STRUCTURE PLACE_STRUCTURE:= n PLAC <PLACE_NAME> {1:1} p.58 +1 FORM <PLACE_HIERARCHY> {0:1} p.58 +1 FONE <PLACE_PHONETIC_VARIATION> {0:M} p.59 +2 TYPE <PHONETIC_TYPE> {1:1} p.57 +1 ROMN <PLACE_ROMANIZED_VARIATION...

Re: Family Tree Analyzer
"but IMO offers relatively little that FH does not also offer." Presumably you mean "offers relatively little that a heavily customised FH with lots of extra plugins does not also offer". FH out of the box doesn't offer anything like the range of reports that FTAnalyzer does. FH can of course be cus...

I had not previously flagged any individuals as having been entered on the LC website, but today entered a record flag in FH (called LC1911) to show that I had entered their details onto the LC website. Perfect thanks. I've added a fix in v2.1.2.0 that will recognise this as the root individual automatically for Family Historian GEDCOM files.

Ah useful info. Is it possible to display a small GEDCOM snippet of how that would appear in a header. In particular I'm looking for anything that is consistent eg: it always appears as a 1 _ROOT @Ixxxx@ or always appears in a particular order. If so I can then add some recognition code to change th...

Can you post the query on the FTAnalyzer discussion site its unfair to fill up this forum with support questions. I suspect however your issue is the root person. When you load a GEDCOM the program tells you who was the root person in the file (set by GEDCOM standard as first person in the file) if ...

Ahhhh, I've just checked back and the 11th of August when you posted your message is the weekend I migrated the code from the old manual install to the new automated installer. This also included several tweaks that broke the install of older versions, sorry you encountered that. To fix simply unins...

@JSPhillips You say 'some things return error messages' can you be more specific? The author does his utmost to fix any and all errors that are brought to his attention so if you are encountering an error you need only let him know by posting an issue here and it should be fixed in the next version....

V4 now scheduled for March
Are there any screenshots of v4 family view page? I've been very impressed on the trial with the flexibility of the querying system but really really put off by the data entry system. I'd love to see how this has been upgraded in v4, if anyone has screenshots, or could persuade the authors to make s...
