Saving tree as gedcom

I have used the split tree function it is powerful, but I find it cumbersome. I would love to see the ability to play with your tree on screen, turning lines on and off (c.f. other wish list item) and then press a button and export exactly the tree you can see on the screen. If a line is turned off ...

Ancestry.com

I would add a different perspective. I have subscribed for several years to Ancestry (UK and USA) and have found it very useful. The census information is invaluable, I use the BDM information a fair bit and particularly find useful the copies of Oxbridge entries / Burkes / DNB etc. which provide so...

Diagrams - multiple

Also - on the business of whether it is intuitive, I am not sure that it is logical to have a window 'locked' to mean that it will stay in that window, when it would suggest that you can no longer edit that window...

Diagrams - multiple

Thank you once more...

However, not terribly intuitive, maybe it would be useful to have the ability to choose between a second diagram using the same window or a new window as an option in the preferences?

Diagrams - Saving

I would love to be able to save diagrams. e.g. If I am working using a descendant chart of fred bloggs and I have set it how I want - with the font size how I like it, with certain lines switched on and off etc. it is very annoying to have to lose all of that because I have to move to another diagra...

Diagrams - multiple

A feature I would love to see is the ability to handle multiple diagrams simultaneously. e.g. if I have a chart showing the descendants of fred bloggs open, it might be useful to open another chart at the same time allowing me to compare information, or merely work on another line for a short while....

End-of-line

David,

sounds a good idea, but having looked at this briefly (as it does seem logical), I am not quite sure how I would get the chart on screen and when printed to draw a line under someone for this purpose?

regards

End-of-line

No, not the underground, but those members of your tree who don't marry, or who have no children. It would be very useful to have a way of showing that for a specific line, it terminates with that person / couple. At present I give them a child of no known sex (so that it prints in a different colou...

Windows separate on the task bar

I agree that this is an issue with which not all will agree. However, the MS standard now seems to be the SDI standard, no longer the MDI... I often work with more than one monitor to show two views on the same file at the same time, often this is two computers, where there is no issue, as long as o...

A Couple of Questions

Is the QTRs 1,2,3,4 because different people use quarters in different ways?

Mar,Jun,Sep,Dec is used for the BMDs, but others will use the first month of each QTR...

All Entries Diagrams

All Entries Diagram - detail. I love the ability to turn branches on and off, it would be useful to do this sideways as well! By this I refer to the ability to choose which elements of an all entries diagram one would want. Imagine an all entries diagram, but then the ability to turn off second spou...

Specific people nbsp;diagrams able to be saved

Jane, Thank you for adding this, though with the new version just out, it does seem mean to be asking for more! Well we might as well make sure that this package is even better - after all it is such a treat to have software written for the genealogist, not just to sell web services... regards Alasd...

Windows separate on the task bar

A wish of mine is to have the several windows which are open showing as separate icons on the task bar. At present all windows which are open are either seen sequentially by viewing one or another through the menu, or alternatively they can be cascaded, or tiled horizontally and vertically. If inste...

Specific people nbsp;diagrams able to be saved

Thank you for the suggestion - yes this works for now, but maybe not quite as neat as being able to move from one to the other via the menu once in a diagram - it seems to be necessary to return to the records window first. I acknowledge that there are many good reasons why the record window is the ...

Specific people nbsp;diagrams able to be saved

I find editing my tree through the diagram window extremely intuitive, it is the main reason I bought Family historian. I would very much like to be able to save specific views on diagrams i.e. if I have a tree displayed in the diagram window of a descendant tree based on a particular person, I woul...
