The NEW Wish List

The wish list here at FHUG contains user requested enhancements and over the time it has been active, many of the top voted items have been added to FH, by Calico. As some of you may know the original wish list voting was open to abuse and unfortunately a few people tried to sway the results by voti...

Before upgrading to V3

Make sure if you have customised the standard text schemes in version 2 you save them to custom schemes before installing version 3. The extensive changes to the power of schemes means that in most cases redoing them is probably the best policy, but if you want to retain them make sure they are cust...

Installation problems

Later V2.1 CDs use the 32bit installer anyway. I believe there is a now a mechanisum in place to deal with people who have older V2 CDs and need to install to Windows 64.

V3 Issues and bugs and FAQs

A couple of minor bugs/issues have been identified in V3 neither are mission critical in that they do not effect the safety of your data or damage in any way your information. Since V3 contains such a huge amount of new functionality small issues are bound to arise in my opinion, despite the best ef...

Old text schemes will be migrated, but to be honest if you want to start to use the newer features, you might find it easier to redo them.

There is so much more control with the new schemes what with the conditional lines font changes etc.

This only occurs if you select for the Table of contents item a Root Person who is private, as long as you avoid starting your trees in the TOC with a private person this will not occur.

Version 3 - nbsp;Questions

With lots of people expecting V3 imminently, I have created a new forum for Version 3 questions, I realise there is much which has not changed between versions, but with the major changes in Text schemes and diagrams, I felt it would be easier to split off usage questions.

Update on Version 3

Simon Orde
In my last update on version 3, I said we were now expecting FH3 to be out in February. At this point, I'm sorry to say, it's looking to be towards the end of February at the earliest, and could well slip back into March.
My apologies once again.

Announcing Family Historian 3

There is no demo for V3, there is a demo for Version V2.3 on the main Family Historian Site. I would not expect a demo for V3 until at least the release of V3.

Tips from Simon

Things have been quiet for a while, so I thought I'd post a few Family Historian tips in case they are of interest. (1) If you open a GEDCOM file created by someone else, a quick way to locate some key people (e.g. the author's own immediate family) is simply to click on the Record Id column in the ...

Searching within a diagram (Simon Orde)

Someone asked me recently if it is possible to do a search within a diagram - i.e. have the relevant person highlighted in the diagram, rather than be switched back to the records window.  The answer is that with a little effort you can - at least provided that you are not already using the 'Mark' f...
