How to display multiple children neatly
Gerry, Can you see in Jane's example scheme the Ancestor Box Type is ticked? This means that only Ancestors will display this Item. If every Item is set this way, then only Ancestor Boxes of the Diagram Root Individual will display anything. A few items such as Name should have all Box Types ticked ...

Peter1948, There are errors in my previous posting that sometimes give wrong details. Here are the corrections. If you are happy to extend the Female Ancestor list to include each marriage as well as all children then this will do it by taking Jane's idea a step further. Marriage 1 Template: Marr: %INDI.~SPOU>FAMS>MARR.DATE:ABBREV% in %INDI.~SPOU>FAMS>MARR.PLAC:SHORT% to %INDI.~SPOU>NAME% Children 1 Template:...

You may achieve something close to what you need by adapting the Diagram Text Schemes . Open an All Relatives Diagram and then use Diagrams > Options > Text tab. Untick the Save as default option bottom left. Select the Text Scheme you want for your direct Ancestors, and then click the Clone button ...

Exactly correct. Photo editors like Photoshop or GIMP will typically use the native pixel size and DPI of the image file. When you use their resize option you are effectively altering the DPI. If in Windows Explorer you right-click on an image file and select Properties , then the Details tab will u...

Postscript In the Source Summary Report Options if a long text field is added, such as the Repository Note field %SOUR.REPO.NOTE2[1]% , then only about the first 60 characters appear in the report followed by ellipsis (...) instead of the full multi-line field. how to merge two family's
Do you mean in the Focus Window or in a Diagram ? When you have yourself displayed, look in your Property Box , and check that your wife is listed about halfway down on a Spouse: tab. If not, then click on the tab and click Add Spouse/Partner and then Link Existing Record . Choose your wife's Indivi...

how to merge two family's
First of all I suggest you look at the Merge/Compare documentation in the FH Help , the Getting the Most from Family Historian 4 PDF and the Knowledge Base at http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=glossary:merge_compare_files . However, bear in mind that your merge is fairly simple as it only invo...

I'm going to show off now. If you use PSPad + phReplace Multiline Search & Replace and select Use Regular Expression the following scripts will create Keywords from the Media sub-folder names. Search For: 1 _FILE Media\(.*)\(.*) 1 _DATE (.*) 1 _KEYS (.*) 1 NOTE Replace With: 1 _FILE Media$1$2 1 _DAT...

With a bit more experimentation and guesswork, I think this is what is happening. Inside FH it works on the basis of 96 DPI (Dots Per Inch). Thus, a 0.75' high photo is 96 x 0.75 = 72 dots=pixels high. If the diagram is saved as a JPEG and printed at 100% resolution (96 DPI) then the photo will be 0...

I don't think there is no feature in FH itself that will make the changes you want, and the Keywords are not in a separate list, they are an integral part of the GEDCOM file. The best approach is to use a text editor search & replace on the GEDCOM file. If you only ever have one Keyword per Multimed...

May I refine Jane's excellent idea a little. Firstly, the HTML Individual filenames do not have a fixed length with the Record Id padded with leading zeros. They actually look like this: ind1.html ind2.html ind3.html ... ind10.html ind11.html ... ind111.html ind112.html So with very large numbers of...

The screen presentation depends on your screen resolution. On my PC at 1600 x 900 my 0.75' photos are 0.8' tall. Switch to 1280 x 720 and they are 1.25' tall. (all measurements approximate) Also when you Save Diagram As there is a choice of file formats, but with modern PC and Printer options it is ...

Yes, you can use the Ahnentafel Number . See the Help on Functions and look it up on Wikipedia. In the Individual Records Window use Lists > Configure Record Window Columns and add a Column with the following Expression : =Number(0-AhnentafelNumber(FileRoot(),%INDI%,1)) Then hold the Alt key to reve...

Report Discrepancies For Source amp; Repository I
In many Individual/Family/Narrative/Outline Reports the Report Options have a Sources tab with an Include Repository Information option, which by default includes Repository Id for Source , Media Type , and Note fields. In fact these fields do not occur in Repository Records ; they occur in Source R...

Yes, it seems that in cropping/copying/moving your photos, the references in the FH Multimedia Records that point to your photo files no longer point to the correct place. Therefore, it may be best to delete those new Multimedia Records for your 12 photos. Before proceeding, it is strongly recommend...

Where have my photo's gone?
It sounds as if you are doing it correctly Barbara. Sorry to disagree with Jane, but if Barbara is not using V4 Project Folders , but still using FH V3 folders, then FH does not copy the photo into the Project Folder because it does not exist. Furthermore, even with V4 Project Folders the user can c...

Also note that adding photos to your records does not usually 'import' the photos into FH.
The photo files must still exist elsewhere in your PC somewhere.
You haven't deleted your photo files between yesterday and this morning?

I am not aware of FH itself offering much advice on the use of Place and Address fields. There are several genealogical web sites that offer various ways of presenting your data online, sometimes for free, and usually allow your GEDCOM data to be imported & exported easily. For example, both AncestryUK http://www.ancestry.co.uk/ and FindMyPast http://www.findmypast.co.uk/ have a subscri...

The ability to use Functions in Diagram Text Boxes as well as Data References is a very useful but undocumented feature of FH.

Alternatively, you may find that a Query Type of Family or Fact may suit your needs better. This is set on the Custom Queries > General tab. Then for Family Queries you will find the Marriage event on the Columns tab under Family > Events . For Fact Queries you will need a Rows Filter such as Add if...
