Re: Website Creation

Please give us a few more clues/ When using the Publish > Websites & Family Tree CD/DVDs... what types of report are you choosing at Step 3? Are the Options... chosen there the installation defaults or something else? If you use the Publish menu to produce the same type of Report with the same Optio...

Re: Query - look for text in Note

That is perfectly feasible by using the =GetLabelledText(...) function. In the Columns tab, you need the Expression: =GetLabelledText( %INDI.NOTE2%, "CENSUSES:" ) That will display whatever follows the CENSUSES: label on the same line or nothing. In the Rows tab, add the following filter: Condition:...

Re: Handling Fact Flags in a plugin

FYI: The final script I came up with is as below and checks every Birth Event for every Individual. It caters for multiple Birth Events for one Individual and checks before adding the Preferred Flag to each one. It could be extended to cater for other key Individual events, but needs an alternative ...

Re: Handling Fact Flags in a plugin

The syntax is the same as you are already using: local ptrFlagNew = fhCreateItem("_FLGS", ptrFlag2) But the item you're creating is "__PREFERRED" and the parent is ptrFlagNew . Are you sure that ptrFlag2 is pointing to a BIRT event tag? Try stepping through the plugin script in the debugger one line...

Re: Handling Fact Flags in a plugin

Dave, I have started a new thread because the 17518|Handling Custom Flags in a plugin thread you used focuses on Individual Record Flags not Fact Flags. As I often suggest, the way to discover FH/GEDCOM codes is to use any FH Data Reference Assistant as follows. Open the Query > Relatives and Relati...

Re: Sources and Proof Arguments

Lorna's solution is quite neat.

The only other option is to insert a line of multiple space characters immediately below the 'Title' line.

I know it's slightly off topic but a starting point for that would be a similar feature for Expressions with better syntax analysis of errors instead of simply saying the Expression is invalid.

Could the method of using the Visual Studio Extension for Lua with Plugin scripts be added to the Knowledge Base similar to the way PSPad is explained in Use PSPad to Format Functions.

Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors

Thank you for that feedback John. Coping with very large Projects in plugins is often a challenge.
The temporary 'freezing' is a likely side-effect of handling such large numbers of Place items.

Philip, that looks like the same old OneDrive sync problems you had before.

Try renaming the Reiflan Tree-DESKTOP-OE15TU3 file to Reiflan Tree
That is the one with the latest Date modified but is smaller than the other Gedcom File.

Re: What am I doing wrong? Query for research notes by repository

The query is looking for links from the chosen Repository to any Research Notes. Your screenshot shows a link from the Research Note to the Repository, i.e. in the opposite direction. Although the imported RM Research Note only lists the Repository using text, I suspect the Repository Record has an ...

Re: FMP Hint 'Bubbles'

I'm not sure how those settings on different Projects interact with each other. Do you have the same Individuals in more than one Project? That might confuse FMP. Intuitively, it seems sensible to only enable 'hints' on one Project at a time. This is one of the few 'customisation' settings that appl...

No, you cannot change the order of the Records Window tabs. Why would you want to? You don't have to create Note Records via the Records Window Notes tab any more than you have to create Research Notes via the Records Window. Every type of Property Box (for Individuals, Families, Sources, Repositori...

Re: Sources and Proof Arguments

The only down-side to crafting notes* is that you have to create the citation first within the note record and then you can use that citation throughout the profile (source records which do not require a dedicated citation are fine). You cannot paste a citation. For example, I've custom created sou...

Peter, as well as recording the proof you may want to consider how it will appear in reports and export to other products. A snag with Research Notes is that they don't seem to appear in any Individual, Family, or Narrative reports. Also, they probably won't export to other products unless you use t...

Re: Other Information

If the word is required in the Auto Text transcript then simply type it in there.
It is just as efficient as typing the same word into the Other Info: box and avoids customisation with the {OTHER} tag.
