Re: Media

Philip, there are two ways to 'track' media. Alter the Title of the Media Record In FH, that Media Title is the primary way of identifying Media and lets you 'track' the media. The actual Windows Filename is rarely shown in FH unless you are inspecting Media Record fields. Alter the Media Record Fil...

Re: Media attached to sources showing as unlinked

If you don't see duplicate Media Record Titles, try sorting on the Filename column to see if the same Media file is linked to more than one Media record. When you find the Media attached to John Wilson follow the link to the Media Record and check its Record Id, then compare that with the Record Id ...

Re: Custom Facts

The way to force them into a specific order is to give them a Sort Date which is a sub-feature of the Date Entry Assistant.

Using the up/down arrows to move Facts without Dates cannot be guaranteed to retain your chosen order.

Re: Can children's names be shown in bold?

No, I don't believe those child names can be shown in bold or any other style. I suspect the reason is that they are (mostly) not direct line Ancestors of the root person. Only the names of direct line Ancestors are shown in bold. One workaround is to Save Report As > Word-Procesor Document (RTF) an...

Re: Moving Individual Boxes

Also, rather than printing directly to paper, many users 'print' to a single large PDF 'page' and if necessary print the PDF file. That is achieved by using Diagram > Save Diagram As > PDF File and accepting the default single page options. See the FHUG Knowledge Base > Single PDF Page of a Diagram ...

Re: Print List of names in Alpha oder for Project as in

Use an Individual Query and add Columns as required. One Column needs Expression %INDI.NAME[1]:SURNAME_FIRST% and Sort: Ascending to mimic the Records Window. You have to set Type: Hiden for the mandatory Individual %INDI% column. Then use the Result Set Print options. If you have done this before t...

IMO the KB articles for Running Family Historian on Crossover / PlayOnLinux/Mac / Wine need updating in light of these revelations because they refer to older versions of WINE that will exhibit the Windows 7 installation problem.

Re: ADVICE: First time exporting to a TNG Website

A GEDCOM file exported by FH with links to Media files will be most unsuitable for uploading to TNG. It will contain many FH custom GEDCOM features that aren't handled by TNG, especially Link to Face/Detail frames for Media. That is why the plugin is popular because it offers solutions to those prob...

Re: Have lost access to FH on desktop and laptop (OneDrive)

It should be OK to delete the Desktop-088HJVQ Family Historian Project & Chart and Gedcom files. I suspect the O20_Birth_Certificate_...Desktop-088HJVQ can be deleted as it belongs to the Family Historian Sample Project so is not important and will get recreated when that project is reset. I don't k...

It is just that the Individuals are significant people from history such as Kings, Queens, Presidents, etc. Or they are dummy Individua...

Re: descendants chart from Focus Window

Somebody asked a similar question on the family-historian@groups.io forum today and my answer is similar here. The Focus Window Descendants tab cannot be printed within FH. So the simplest way is to use the Snip & Sketch or Snipping Tool in Windows and capture a screenshot that can be saved &/or pri...

I don't understand why your two screenshots show different results. The search in OneDrive and All subfolders should also list the files found by the search in OneDrive\OneDrive Documents because the OneDrive Documents folder is a subfolder of OneDrive. Have you any explanation for those different r...

Also, at the very bottom of your screenshot, there is an option to Browse/Install Data Entry Assistants.
That allows the list of Supported Sources to be edited as explained in the Help page.

Re: Have lost access to FH on desktop and laptop (OneDrive)

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking. To remove just the rogue entries involving -DESKTOP-088HJVQ and Rowland Family-Rowland that are listed in the wrong Folder, use File Explorer to search the Folder: named, and delete the rogue file. To remove any Project completely, use FH File > Project Win...

Welcome to the FHUG.

There are some techniques in the FHUG Knowledge Base > Downloads > Fact Queries > Timeline Facts – Overview.

They produce a Query Result Set with Individual Facts merged with more general historical events.

Re: comma between two dates

I also use Grammarly and find it quite useful although I don't always agree with its suggestions, especially punctuation. In FH the Date fields adhere to the GEDCOM specification which does not allow commas in Date Ranges or Date Periods. That is why the comma is not allowed in the Date fields, so t...

Re: Export GEDCOM to TNG

In response to user requests, my plugins now only check if there is a later version at most once a month. That process can take a while (or fail) depending on the Plugin Store servers. So that might explain the unexpected long time 'running' for the old plugin. You didn't say how long you waited or ...
