Re: FH V7 on Crossover on Linux issues
That is typical of the kinds of issues that arise with Crossover/WINE because it is not a fully complete emulation of Windows. IMO you need to raise the issue with Crossover support first, and perhaps with FH support second. It is unlikely to get fixed otherwise. Other Crossover users here may be ab...

Re: Using Custom ID in Source Record Title
Michael, I have experimented with my suggestion and thought a bit more and realised what you want is not possible. In general, a single Source record can be attached to multiple Facts &/or Individuals. So it is not possible to identify any one specific Individual record that has cited the Source rec...

Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
Thank you. That gives the clues I need and I can now reproduce the errors. Fixing it may take a little longer :D BTW: You can only have 3 Attachments per posting. If you add more than one Attachment and then start editing the posting the Attachments can become detached. So do all the editing first a...

Re: Using Custom ID in Source Record Title
The way to find valid data refs is to use one of the many Data Reference Assistants. The easiest is in the Query window, Columns tab, Fields pane, with the box at the bottom set to Show Both in Box . In this case, use the All Individuals query and select Individual + Miscellaneous + Custom Id to fin...

Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
Linda, I've had a quick look at the 'Failed to change Place (TEXT) name' error. I ran the plugin to eliminate the first part of Place records that are blank. However, I cannot see how the error would have arisen. Please provide more details of what settings you used that caused the error. A screensh...

Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
I will investigate the 'Failed to change Place (TEXT) name' error when I find time. Instead of using Tools > Work with Data > Places to merge the Places, select the two records in the plugin Result Set and use the Edit > Merge/Compare Records... command. In the Select Records To Be Merged dialogue, ...

Re: Too many spouses shown.
Then I discovered a great, easy to use, emulator program called Crossover which allows many Windows programs to be installed legally on Linux. Browsing through the list of Windows programs I found Family Historian was listed and was said to work well in Linux. I had to download the installer .exe f...

Re: Printing on 24 inch roll
The article I quoted provides answers to that question. Yes, the default Family Historian PDF is limited to 128" but other PDF printer drivers go up to 200" which is over 16 feet. You may have to experiment a little as you are pushing the limits somewhat. Other factors such as readability of text an...

Re: Too many spouses shown.
You are running FH V5 which as Lorna says opens with the Focus person as the File Root. If you upgraded to FH V7, then it opens the same Focus person as was in Focus when FH was closed. Then you can keep yourself as the File Root (which is useful for default Relationship displays) and yet FH will st...

Re: Printing on 24 inch roll
Please see the FHUG Knowledge Base article Single PDF Page of a Diagram which gives much advice and explains many options. If anything is not clear then ask again. It is recommended that you save the Diagram as a single PDF page rather than print directly to paper. The single PDF page method largely...

Re: Rearrange address and place 1.7 errors
Linda, that V1.7.1 prototype is not in the Plugin Store yet. I was waiting to see if John found any further issues that might need investigating before publishing. The plugin adds no new functionality except for trying to handle very large numbers of Places without crashing. You are welcome to try t...

Re: Relationships
Yes, the plugin produces a static Result Set which can be added to a Named List. The plugin must be run from time to time to update the Named List. You can have multiple Named Lists; perhaps one for Paternal and another for Maternal relatives. Record Flags are not needed as the function =IsInList( %...

Re: "Duplicates..." Plugin -on iMac
Derek, it sounds like you have never run any plugins before. Like most customisations, plugins apply to all Projects on the same device (PC, iMac). I guess you mean the 'Find Duplicate Individuals' plugin. If you have a large Project, with many thousands of Individuals it can take a long time to run...

Re: Property Box - Starred 'fact flags' on births/born events
If you want to investigate the plugin script then paste a copy of what you have in the New Plugin window so I can review it. It does not need a lot of time to fix it with a Query. Create an Individual Query with a Column using the Expression: %INDI.BIRT[1]._FLGS.__PREFERRED% In the Result Set click ...

Re: Relationships
I think we need some more expert input here, but what would happen if you changed IsAncestorOf to IsRelativeOf ? And can it be incorporated in a Property Box caption (is TextIf the tool to use?)? IsAncestorOf(...) only returns true for direct line ancestors. If you simply replace that with I sRelat...

Re: Export from Family Historian to Ancestry: Citation Data (Problem)
I've moved this to the Exporting forum where it fits better. IMO you have misunderstood the GEDCOM ADDRESS_STRUCTURE definition: ADDRESS_STRUCTURE:= n ADDR <ADDRESS_LINE> +1 CONT <ADDRESS_LINE> +1 ADR1 <ADDRESS_LINE1> +1 ADR2 <ADDRESS_LINE2> +1 ADR3 <ADDRESS_LINE3> +1 CITY <ADDRESS_CITY> +1 STAE <AD...

Re: Property Box - Starred 'fact flags' on births/born events
What I'm wondering is how the 'non-standard flags', like this, aren't able to added/removed in the normal way in a query (i.e. set flag on row records/clear flag on row records). In your opinion, is this an oversight by Calico Pie ? The explanation why that won't work is that they are NOT Record Fl...

Re: Property Box - Starred 'fact flags' on births/born events
I presume your Query listed 5,000 Birth Events with the Preferred Flag. So selecting all 5,000 entries in the Preferred Flag column of the Result Set was taking too long? Once they were all selected though a simple Delete key click would delete them all. I am fascinated by how 5,000 Birth Events gai...

Re: Marriage entry - incorrect married name for witness
Neil, in the Census scenario where the relationship between Head and Wife is known then AS can automatically assume the Wife's surname is the same as the Head, but that is a special case. In all other cases, AS would have to compare the Date of the event with the Date of Marriage(s) and Divorce(s) o...

Re: Property Box - Starred 'fact flags' on births/born events
Those Preferred Fact Flags can usually only be added one by one manually.
I have helped a user to create a plugin to set them all automatically in Handling Fact Flags in a plugin (22153).
But without using a plugin they can only be set by hand.

Re: Query name
Well for experts there is a way of renaming a query.
Use Windows File Explorer and Rename the .fhq file in the Family Historian Program Data Folder\Queries\Custom subfolder.
Ensure FH is closed while doing that and take great care not to upset anything else in those folders

Re: Query name
I suspect the downloaded query author did not update the General tab. It would be advisable for you to complete the General tab details. To give it a new name use the cog Query Menu > Save As Custom Query... option and set a new Query Name. That is what I suggest you should do initially to preserve ...

No, I don't think so, not in the FH Diagram Window.
The nearest I have achieved for a Diagram with URL in boxes is by saving it to PDF.
