You have not given me much to work on. If you select a person then click the multimedia option are the pictures there? In the multimedia tab on the records window do the images show? On the diagram options on the picture tab have you got pictures turned on and is there a {{picture}} line in your di...

FH fails ti accept Gedcom5.5 from PAF
This has recently been discussed on the mailing list. I believe PAF may be exporting some addition characters to the start of the gedcom file. Older versions of FH, did not check the headers, try opening your file in a text editor and checking the first few lines start with something like 0 HEAD 1 S...

Personally I use a spreadsheet. With one page for each of Births Marriages and deaths, with columns for searched for and always put a note for none found. For example column headings for births are Year, Qtr, Surname, Forename, Result Surname, Result Forename, Maiden Name, district, reference Where...

Request for comment from Harvey I have recently been using the Family Research Link Web Site to track down Birth Certificates etc. I wonder how people keep a record of what their research has already covered (even if is negative). I am sure a program like Custodian would do a fine job, but at nearl...

You can put almost anything you want on a tree.
If you right click on the diagram, not on a box, and select diagram options then the text tab and select the scheme you want from the top drop down you can also select you own data references. See the Manual for more details.

Adoptions
I can understand why the adoption show for the mother, as in GEDCOM the adoption is to the family group rather than to the individuals, I can not think how to deal with it other than what you have done though. I suggest simply adding a private note to yourself about why there is an adoption. Please ...

You can get around the problem for the first family children, by changing the sequence of parent families so that the second family comes first. In the records window open the child, click on the Words 'Parents Family' then click the little curved up arrow at the top to change the sequence so the se...

FTM to FH
In Links under GEDCOM,then Gedfix.
You can find the program at
http://www.taubman.org.uk/gedcom/index.html
However I did have some problems with moving Nicknames as FTM stores them in a strange place. If you have problems let me know and I will take a look at the gedfix again.

A Child may have more than one parent family in FH, this means you can include step-children into the family groups as 'adopted' or 'foster' children. This works well for Tree's especially in 'modern' families.

On the image, you forget to press the insert image button on the upload. The chart looks exactly as I would expect. The proxy boxes are always used. To keep everything aligned. I am not aware of a way to turn them off other than by using the hourglass chart. You will see another beneift of the forma...

There are two items in the wish list for showing more children and the ability to show parents. I will add your re-size wish, but first could you explain what you would like to see happen when you make it bigger?

FH always uses proxy boxes for all ancestors of the root, on the All relations chart, my guess would be some of your family have no siblings, so the proxy repeats existing information, however removing them would upset the balance of the chart (IMHO). As far as I know this has not been queried here...

You can change the program to start maximised by changing the shortcut, rightclick on the short cut, and change window to start maximised, however you still need to enlarge the records window each time. The requests for windows to remember positions and sizes are high on the wish list.

Personally I use primary for documents which are the originals, for example a Census Image, and secondary for information obtained from an census index. So all IGI information is secondary, until I have seen the film of the parish records.

I will add it to the wish list here. Please remember though adding it to the list just means it has been asked for.
Don't forget you can always load your GEDCOM back to FTM to print the chart off in the interim.
