Mislinked Diagram from nimrod.blm
On my own descendants' diagram my son's second partner (i.e.unmarried) is linked to his ex-wife and not to him! His daughter (by second partner) descends from the link between the two women! He should be between the two women, with son descending from the first and daughter descending from the secon...

printing a list of names.
You need to use the Query function. I suggest downloading the Records Window Query from the Query Store, or simply create your own with all the fields you want. Then run the query and take the save results to file icon (ths disk with the red arrow on it), you can save the information as a tab or com...

I don't think so. Obviously if you create a New Note record you can then link that to as many people as you require. A useful tip is when you select link to existing note, when the Notes appear press the heading on the updated date column to bring the most recent date to the top. This makes it quick...

Events/attributes/notes excluded for living person
Fran, not really sure on the Book reports, I know they are expected, but I am not sure when, I am only a user of FH and do not work for Calico.
As FH uses GEDCOM you can always load the file into the free version of Legacy as a temporary method until FH supports books.

This will be the program you are exporting from not FH. Check the settings for the program you are exporting from many programs default to excluding information for living people.

On the event query, you are correct FH only allows 'GEDCOM' compliant entries. This seems to exclude events as entities in there own right. Personally I have a source for each census page, or certificate and link people to them, but I know others use different methods. The linking of children is ver...

You should have 1 scheme called full names, not one for each box type.
Each scheme has sections for each box type.

You could try
INDI.~SPOU[1]>DEAT[1]
which returns the spouses death.

Newbie question on name changes
If you use the All tab or the record window FH will allow multiple Name entries. So if someone name changes you can record multiple names and source each name. You can sequence the name records so that the first name is the most used. So for example a child who is adopted can have both birth name an...

I have tried it again and as long as I put the text in the citation and not in the source it appears OK for me. Please can I confirm the text you want to show is on the citation and not on the source.

BUG? nbsp;Individual Report: nbsp;Source Notes
I think it is a terminology problem. Both sources and citations can have text from source and notes and sources can have them. The ones that print on the reports are the citation fields and not the source fields. You can print Source text fields on the Source Reports. I normally print just the title...

Can not do the average directly, but I have added a query to the Query Store which extracts the male line from a start person. You could then save the data as a CSV file and load into excel or another spreadsheet if you wanted to. It will only extract the first 8 generations so you will need to repe...

Generating a TODO list from Notes
1. Get the 2.1 Update if you do not already have it. 2. Take a look at the Lists function. This allows you to build lists of people and sources, families and add a note to each one of what you need to do. So for example I have a list called FreeBmd of look ups to do, a list of 'maybe' matches to che...

I presume you mean as embeded objects. I do not have any knowledge of a program to convert them. Does your previous program have an option to convert them to external files?
I will ask on the phpgedview site and see in anyone there knows of a program to externalise the links.

You could also download the demo version of FH from

descendant tree outlines in HTML/text and privacy
The answer to the first question is an easy yes. You can create a report and then save ita rft or html or text and edit it in your favourite program. For the second part as FH uses gedcom it is very easy to make a copy of your file and then run it through Res Privita or GEDCLEAN to remove any data y...

Formating for notes is on the wish list, the main reason for lack of formating is because the gedcom standard does not support it. This means that any formating done in other programs is lost when gedcom is exported. For this reason FH does not currently have it as it uses gedcom to store all its da...

When you move a gedcom file, FH tries to be helpful in also moving the links. There is a good explanation in the help from the Work with external links option in the tools menu. Personally I keep all my linked items 'below' my gedcom so my gedcom lives at c:workfamilyhistory and all linked items li...

The only thing I can think of is that you have turned off pictures or selected say picture 2 rather than picture 1, which would mean someone with two pictures would get the second one only, someone with 1 picture would get no picture.

It sounds as though you may have moved the gedcom file or the pictures.
Check the Work with Multimedia links in the Tools menu. You can then 'reset' the file links.

Hi, you should be able to use the unlink option, to unlink the families, I needed to do so after a merge the other day, FH made one of my family his own g-g-grandfather. It may be worth sending the comment and or samples to Calico as, as a user group site things mentioned here may not reach the code...
