Pedigree Box Chart
I find the Ancestor Report, quite useful for a simple list of ancestors neatly laided out.

Initial Observations
Welcome. The first of your requests is on the Wish list.
I am glad you are enjoying FH. If you are coming over from Generation and have any problems with the files you can find a couple of helper programs off the GEDCOM links on this site.

You can select the Records Window font.
Go to the Tools menu then Records Window Option then click on the display tab, at the bottom of the tab is a font selection option.

1901 census and others
As a general suggestion. Most County record offices hold the census information for thier own county and the surrounding ones. Also the LDS centers also either have them or can order them. The 1891 Census is online with ancestry.com, but is expensive as you need to make a 1 off payment. I can't give...

Your family sounds like a good challenge. It you are sending data to other people the 'split tree' option can strip out all multimedia and notes prior to sending so may help when sharing data. Just remember to make a copy of the file before using it.

Hi,
Thanks for the warning. Most GEDCOM exporting programs, put people first and there are quite a few programs like GEDHTREE that expect the data to always be that way around. FH added the option to swap the data in 2.1, prior to that it always listed the families first.

Family IDs and Reports/Diagrams
I don't think the Ancestor outline will support it. You could use a query to do a similar job, its then easy to include what ever numbers and ID's you want.

Having seen that David and I cross posted just thought I would add -
You can use the
Work With Record Identifers in the Tools menus to create custom IDs from the standard ones if you want.

On diagrams you can add custom IDs for Familys by adding another data reference such as
Spouse Family %FAM.REFN[1]%
I have tried to get the standard Id using =recordid(), but have been able to get the number displayed. I will try and take a longer look when I get some time.

I think only Army members in the UK at the time of the census are listed. If you know details for Army Service, you can use http://www.regiments.org
to check for postings.

This has been covered over on the Mailing list at some point. It is to do with the way windows displays fonts rather than prints them. I think in you print the diagram it will be ok, I also believe it is something Simon was trying to improve for the next release.

Have you tried searching for a baptisum instead. My husbands GGGrandfather born 1861, did not seem to be registered, but I found his baptisum via the IGI, and a lady in Canada sent me the image of the page including the date of birth entered by the Vicar. I think some early registrations especially ...

GEDCOM XML : Derek S
I've just been reading the proposed specification for GEDCOM XML at http://www.familysearch.org/GEDCOM/GedXML60.pdf. Does anyone know if/when this will become the de facto standard for Genealogy programs and if Family Historian will be adopting this as its file format. (Note this was posted by Derek...

I will need to do a some work to replace the grey theme and will probalbly not have time this week to update the menu system and rewrite the theme to match it.
Both the standard and lemom themes should work OK in the interim.

Thanks Peter, I wondered if anyone would comment. I thought it was about time for a renewal as the site has been going just over a year and has had over 20,000 visits, during that time. An average of 52 visits per day, and rising.

If you use the add event on either the event tab on properties or on the record window, you will find there is a Cremation event. So when you want to enter a cremation use the add event method rather than completing the field on the main properties dialog.

Don't use copy, use Save As and save as a word or text file as you prefer. Then you can open the saved file. Fooled me as well that one, I did it myself last night[grin]

This is a new one on me. What printer driver are you using. It might be worth checking for the latest driver. If you add another line in the same position does the problem also occur. If you send the file to another printer or to PDF995 (link on the left) does the problem occur. If you manage to mak...
