Re: Importing from TMG 9.05 > FH 6.2.7.......no exhibits

One option might be to create a tiny project and add an OLE object in TMG, then look at the database record to see how it's identified, you could then do a query in TMG to find any in your big database.

Re: Can I join together Individual Summary Reports into one?

Narrative reports can be "cleaned" by customising the sentences, for example if you don't want to show where you have entered multiple facts for the same information, set the ones you don't want to an override sentence of {blank} and change a few around to improve the flow.

Re: Importing from TMG 9.05 > FH 6.2.7.......no exhibits

An OLE error suggests some of the media may be OLE linked rather than being a simple file link. I have never used TMG, but you may be able to track down the odd media links and correct them.

Re: Grumble - Gender requirement

Personally I use a Potential Grandparent fact, adding the Grandparent(s) as witnesses to the linked person, this is the same method I use when I have potential parents, but not enough proof to confirm them. That way there is no danger someone else will take the link as confirmed.

Re: How to create a fact for a religious conversion

You could not need any codes. Just go to the Facts tab and select Add fact and then more fact types and and select Religion you can add a date and an explanation. You might also want to add an original religion at birth fact as well.

Re: Direct Ancestors

Why don't you add a Relationship column to show how the people are related to you, that way you can see at a glance what relation they are and if you need to search.

I have a twin fact so I can have a nice sentence with a witness for the twin. If you don't want to do that I would put it against the Birth Fact.

Re: Unable to sort Note Records

Have you tried moving them on the All tab?

Personally I don't use free standing notes as it's not an ideal way to handle them, I always attach notes to facts so they can be ordered more easily. Using a blank sentence or one with {note} in.

Land Tax records

I am researching a new Family and they occur in the Land Tax records. What I have been searching for is a way to put the values shown in some sort of context, but I have not been able to find a resource which explains the values shown in relation to the sort of wealth or land of the person being tax...

Re: i need inspiration as well, and some clever coding

Just to echo what Mike said estimates will never be "right", in a murder I am researching at the moment the victim was accompanied by his son and grandson. The son was 19, his youngest son and the grandson 15, the son of the victims oldest child. So even in a single generation the gaps can vary a gr...

If you had a V5 upgrade from 4 you need to install using the V4-V5 upgrade program. If you did not keep a copy you will have to ask Calico Pie support to resend a link for you. If you purchase a V5-V6 upgrade you can install that with out installing V5. This is all covered in how_to:family_historian...

The one Mike gave you show you how to look through records.

In your first attempt you tried to use records with out including the function which does the loop.

Most code snippets have an example AND a function you need to copy into your code.

As Mike says if you post the section we can see the error.

A good rule of thumb if there is nothing you recognise as notes or other information it's nothing to worry about too much.
