There are quite a few useful tips in the Lost Cousins newsletter this month for the 1921 Census.

Yes, just use Add>Unrelated individual from the menu to add one of them and then add all that persons know relations. Once you have established where they fit, use the Add Existing record to pick up the existing group and add it on.

If I was coding it I would compute the current aspect ratios and both possible adjustments and use the one which is the smallest adjustment.

Re: Cropping Pictures to standard aspect ratio
I think you could write a plugin to walk through your file looking for the media links and setting the frame shape as desired, but it would be tricky if you wanted different aspects for some of them, for example highlighting a name in a Census page would probably want to be a different shape from a ...

First you can always play with these features in the the Sample Project.
Once you prepare a citation and then turn on Automatic Source Citation. Everything you enter until you turn it off will have a citation of your prepared citation added to it.

Re: Named List in a Query
You currently have 3 adding lines, which will all ADD to the list.
The simplest solution is to move your list select down after adding the people by dates and then do an exclude unless in list line.

Re: FH 7 Dont work anymore
You are assuming the user did not simply ignore the error warning, or was aware as this user was that the save process did not complete. I believe with some newer cloud services you can control any folders not just the "named" folders.

Re: FH Hints
FH6 uses the IE web browser. You can get around the problem by setting FH to use an external web browser in preferences. The latest FH7 version does not have this problem as it can install a replacement Web 2.0 browser as using in MS edge. If you are using an external browser make sure you have to m...

As the problem is with FMP, it's well worth raising the problem directly with FMP if you are subscriber, to encourage them to prioritise the problem.

Re: FH 7 Dont work anymore
Are you using any automatic backup or Cloud drive services? Is it possible those are interfering with your save routine. If you are try turning those off to see if the process then works correctly.

Yes, but you need to create an ini file to launch it.s there a command line option to start fh on a specific project focussing on a specific individual?
Take a look at

Re: Sub-Forums in General Usage
Historically we did have forums for each version, but many people got very confused as to where to post a question, so we flattened the structure. Many questions are not version specific, so in many cases an answer to a question on FH5 is still correct for FH7.

Re: This week's active discussion topics in the FHUG Forums email
You don't appear to have the same email in the list twice, I already checked that. It may be a problem with the routine which sends the mail. If you can leave everything along for now and I will check the logs on next weeks run.

Re: This week's active discussion topics in the FHUG Forums email
I can not see anything obvious in the routine as it simply loops all the accounts which have requested emails and sends them via Amazon SES. It is set up as a Cron job which runs at 8:08 on a Wednesday morning.
I have added some debugging so I can check the run next week.

Re: MIssing GED in data folder.
You probably killed Family Historian while it was recording the gedcom file. The simplest option will be to recover a previous snapshot using the Project Window, More Tasks , Manage Snapshots to recover a recent snapshot prior to the problem occurring. You might also be able to rename the tmp file t...

Another option is to use the "individual scrapbook" report and simply use the Select Relations to select the Ancestors and put them in the order you want. As that report is a lua plugin script it could be customised more fully.

Re: FH version 7.0.8.2 backup failure
The problem is most likely your Antivirus program trying to be helpful. It is not one I have come across so I can't comment on it.
You could try excluding FH from scanning and any other protection, if that fixes the problem report it to the PC Matic support.

Re: Searching for family members with accent marks in name
The attached script will search after converting accented letters to plain ones, however some letters are converted to two letters. It's easy to adjust this by editing the table at the bottom of the plugin to change the conversions. It's not perfect and occasionally throws errors when run down in th...
